What other team do you follow

Do you have a second team you follow as a fan (out of conference), to help you stay interested in football (the NFL in particular). It's hard to be excited when your home team just isn't cutting it on a regular basis.

No matter how big a fan you are, sometimes it helps to have a plan B.  Maybe the Canes or a college team that peaks your interest. Or do you just say "fug it" and go cut the lawn.

Opinions please....

I follow :

bears

giants

Texans

chiefs

chargers

seahawks

Dolphins

jets (this year)

packers

all of nfc south

I follow these teams but always root for panthers. Whether the panthers are losing or

winning doesn’t change my involvement. I am the same whether we are winning or losing.  Call me a traditional fan… and not a modern one I guesss…..

Yeah, I’m always going to support the Panthers, whether it’s 0-16 or 16-0. I don’t get as emotionally invested as I used to, but that’s just maturity IMO.

Playing fantasy keeps me interested in all the games, though. The NFL in general is so much fun because of the parity. You don’t get that in college football. I mean, look at the Pats/Eagles game yesterday. Most every game hinges on a handful of plays that determine the outcome. Occasional 40-0 drubbings aside, things are usually very interesting every game.

Ride or die Panthers.  No "second" teams.

I'm fortunate to also not take any failures of the team I support to heart and my mental health is not reliant upon a single game result or even a playoff season.  This is a mantra I repeat more and more often it seems with this team.

As to yesterday, I turned off the TV and took out my aggression pulling old tires out of the creek and bushes and cutting down weeds in between downpours.  Haven't even looked at other teams scores yet.  I can't stand the rest of the NFL other than the Panthers.  If it were not for the Panthers there is no way I would spend a single dime on the NFL or waste precious daylight listening to the talking heads.

None of us know how good/bad the Panthers are or can be. The turnovers determined that game. We led in time of possession, first downs, yards, and most everything else other than turnovers and score. Rookie QBs take time but they will get it going.

I used to say the Redskins as that was the team I pulled for before the Panthers came into existence.  They were in decline already when the Panthers started playing, but once the Cooke family sold to Daniel Snyder, I lost interest quickly.  It only took a few seasons to write them off completely after seeing what an incompetent owner little Danny boy was becoming.  Wheeew boy, what a train wreck that eventually became!!!

I don't have any "second teams". I don't get myself emotionally attached to anyone other than Panthers.

However, I do find ways to get interested in different matchups and storylines.

My top games to watch will be in the AFC East, going to be a lot of fun to watch Dolphin, Jets and Bills, even Patriots battle it out.

I was the same way.  Growing up in NC meant a lot of redskin (may they RIP) games.  In college I made the road trip to Tampa to watch the superbowl and root for Theisman.  Seems so alien now.  Didn't have tickets but still had a blast.  So when the Panthers came into being I knew I had to cut ties completely.  A lot of people hate Danny Boy, but I always appreciated how he made that breakup painless.

    • LeBron not getting enough attention he had to announce to the world he's leaving social media for the time being lol   This man about to be 40. This is kid like behavior and I'm a fan of LeBron. Cmon bro do better.
    • Does anyone else see this as the beginning of the end of Freddie Andersen? It started as a day-to-day. Escalated to week-to-week: Brind'Amour announced that Andersen was considered week-to-week with the injury. He said, "That's a little more time than I was hoping, but hopefully we'll get an update every week". Next: Brind'Amour later said that Andersen's injury would be "way longer" than expected. Now: https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/toronto-maple-leafs/latest-news/report-former-maple-leafs-goaltender-frederik-andersen-shut-down-by-hurricanes-to-miss-roughly-8-weeks-following-knee-surgery According to TSN's Pierre LeBrun, Andersen is set to undergo surgery that will keep him out of the team's lineup for "roughly" eight weeks. Who here believes the Canes will roll with Kochetkov and Martin without making a move?
    • Meniscus maybe? I can't see it being ligaments or he would be done for the year.
