That could be what he wants. Who knows?

For the record, I believe his stock is as low as it ever will be this year if he’s out for a significant time. Start talking extension now before he blows up in his contract year. Because he will be healthy in his contract year.

Not a bad idea, I like the kid, just can’t stay healthy.

What's the usual timeline for hammys for either end of the spectrum? Tightness/pulled vs. off the bone?

I think there are 3 grades or levels of a hamstring injury. Strain, pull, and torn. A pull is slight tearing that can heal with rest and rehab. A grade 3 would require surgery I believe. I’ve heard the higher up on the hamstring closer to the glute- it’s more serious and it will take longer to heal. It looked like Horn was holding down lower on his leg more behind his knee. It’s hard to know until later this week.

It wouldn’t shock me if he goes on IR. His body just doesn’t seem capable of being able to withstand the physical demands of being in the NFL

It's crazy how many hammies have popped this year already. It seems to be the most common injury so far. These turf fields need to go.

Relieved but also concerned/worried that it was a hamstring. I had feared the worst when he went down with a non-contact injury and counted our blessings when the news came back that it was a hammy... but hamstrings take foreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever to heal.

Poor Jaycee just can't catch a break... actually, that's probably not the best choice of words. 😧

Sometimes it's because they overtrain.  I have no doubt Jaycee worked really hard to be in great shape, but sometimes you can get too lean.  Also happened with CMC a couple of years ago, he showed up to camp in superhuman shape and remember his hammy popping in 3rd game of the season.

I wouldn't give up on Horn just yet but will not pick up the 5th year option until he proves he can play a season healthy.  Just like CMC, I would hate to see him go to another team and play perfectly healthy for years to come.

Players may get these injuries out of the way early in their careers and play well for years to come.  Thomas Davis comes to mind as the ultimate example.

I honestly think CMC would've played in significantly more games had we been competitive. It just got to the point in those seasons that why put more miles on the tires of your best player when you're out of contention? Sure wish we'd done that with Cam and his shoulder.

Agree completely. When he came back in 2021, he seemed to have a mystery ankle issue and was shelved when we got destroyed by Miami (IiRC) and were basically out of contention. I thought it was odd because he didn’t appear to leave the game hurt. I think he was more hurt in 2020 but we were out of it so no reason to risk further injury by bringing him back.

I mean, I'm not complaining. I think it was smart player management IMO. It's just dumb to have your best players out there when you're out of contention if they're already banged up. It's a different story if you're fighting for a playoff berth.

    • At this rate, maybe he'll be a decent 8-9 QB on his 3rd HC by year 6. Standards are so low around here now. Tepper has done some serious damage to the fan base.
