And a QB that threw two bad picks? No shame in pulling him to keep from crushing his confidence with a potential 3rd pick?  I get it dude, you want Thomas Brown to be the play caller, but you don't need to throw Reich under the bus to get your wish.

Rookie QB is there to make mistakes. It would ruin his confidence more to bench him

BY looked like a rookie in his first game.

This offense is very technical and requires hitting on all cylinders. It's pace, rhythm, misdirection, lots of substitutions looking for mismatches, balancing run/pass and taking your shots sporadically.

Folks can say that the offense today looked like the preseason, but I didn't notice that. 5 and 81 especially showing out which I don't recall.

Part of keeping the playcalling under wraps all offseason means that we might not hit our stride game 1. Pretty ludicrous to think it would. Bryce just missed Mingo on that bomb, just missed a few other throws that only come with reps, chemistry and tape sessions.

Young is a brilliant mind and will make the adjustments.

I wasn't happy with the outcome today, but see an offense that will take time to fully open up. We def need Chark to figure out how to stay healthy. His lack of presence on O does change the formula for opposing defenses. Miles did look a step or two slower and they had him on a pitch count for sure.

If we get Horn back, sign Burns and let Hill take over the slot, we will be in good shape. The NT position concerns me but we knew that coming in. Maybe we call Detroit to see if Buggs is available? Is Wormley a NT or DE?

Then don’t hire him.  Don’t hire a young exciting dude with potential from a great tree.  Whose 2nd half playcalling was better all preseason. Hire an experienced OC and let him do it.

Frank isn’t a good playcaller.  That’s not new.  He should focus on being the HC.  Was talked all preseason and when he first announced he would keep doing it here after getting fired for it

Shane stechien didn’t interview well over zoom.  Which is insane when you think about it.

He tailed off as the game went on, but that's not really a huge surprise for a rookie.

Haven't seen a load of rookie first games in my time, I can definitely tell you I've seen way worse 😄

The rhythm we found on the 4 and 1 miss-drive was pretty.  Bryce was really good on his feet and found a groove for a minute and it felt operational.  That was a glimpse at a smooth operating offense.  There could be something there, but you're right that it tailed off.  Nothing super concerning but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed in the passing game.  The Falcons were a super beatable, one-dimensional team today.  A lot is on coaching and WRs as well.  Our OL was fine and the running game was working.  Should have been able to dice them up, even with an average/meh WR group. I'm just surprised how much we stalled in the 2nd half. I just expected more, not going to pretend I'm not underwhelmed.

Overall, I'd say there's a healthy ground of being disappointed but not overreacting that I'm firmly in.  Hope we look a lot better in the air next week.  No alarm bells, but waiving a minor "concerned" flag.

Is there such thing as too poise?  He needs some energy, a little emotion. The offense will feed off him.

I assume he was nervous being his first game and on the road. He should let loose as he gets more comfortable with the offense. He had a lot of fire in him during those Alabama games.

We were told we were morons after drawing some season long conclusions after preseason as well.

You were...and are.

There won't be a truly reliable sense of how good this year's team is until around midseason, if then.

With it being a first year team, it's the late season that matters most.

If you have anything negative to say, you are an idiot and know nothing about football.  Got it.

I get it that it's overreaction Sunday in Week 1, but that was a straight up depressing game to watch.

Negative regarding this game is fine.

Projecting this game onto the entire future though is utterly stupid.

No I think they should go into a game with ability to switch as needed. He is his OC there’s no shame in it

That'd be a huge mistake.

You don't platoon QBs. That's what Rhule wanted to do.

If you bench the QB, it's permanent. And when you do that to a developing rookie, you're screwing his development.

Defense looked completely different once Horn went out.  Was so high on him but wondering about the bust tag on him.  Great talent on sidelines does us no good.

Offense looked OK with a couple crucial mistakes.  Sure hope Sanders is just rusty.  Completely unimpressed.  Missing Thielan I think hurts more than DJ.  Both need to be back in lineup next week or we are in trouble.

Overall still optimistic.  Some really good things to take from this game.  Won’t make judgement until mid season.  I really want to see how BY progresses.  He is gonna study his ass off.
