What's crazier is how good their track record is with those though.

I think they know that sometimes they'll make the wrong call and dump someone too early, but because of it, they rarely screw up and keep a player for too long and they historically have been great at knowing the right time to get rid of someone for a good return right before they fall off.

Oh I don't care enough about Jones to defend him. I'm just being objective about THIS game. 

Is he a great QB? Heck no. Is he the reason they're getting their ish pushed in right now? No. No he isn't.
