Dubious distinction for John Fox if he returns to the Panthers next season

yeah winning every year would be nice. is it realistic to expect that though? you should be more grateful for the overall winning record Fox has had as Panthers head coach is my point and he's shown he can rebound from losing seasons. it's like 90% of you guys ignore everything in the NFL and look at the Steelers, Patriots, Colts and a few other select teams and whine about how we're not them. well that's the reality of any sport. All those teams have hall of fame quarterbacks too.

Yes. Of the nineteen current head coaches that have coached at least two full seasons with their team, only eight have not had back-to-back winning seasons. That includes coaches that just joined their teams last year. Fox is the longest tenured one without back-to-back winning seasons.

Delhomme is the best QB the Panthers have ever had and Fox brought him here. Fox definitely takes some blame for the Panthers not having a longterm option at QB but he isn't a coach/GM. Hurney also is to blame. The fact that we've been a franchise form 13-14 years and Delhomme is the best we've ever had even makes me put some blame on Richardson.

Wrong again. Steve Beuerlein is. Keep talking out your ass, it's quite amusing.

i agree there are shortcomings and 3 of 8 is mediocre, i only come to Fox's defense because it seems a large majority feel he must be fired. his job should be in question and pressure should be on, but i honestly could see JR going either way at this point. Belicheck lost 5 of 6 seasons with the browns and they let him go. sometimes a coach needs more power or they need to learn more from other coaches before they can improve any further.

i'd hate to see fox winning super bowls with another team though.

either way though, i'm a panthers fan, i'll be rooting for whoever is coaching and whoever is playing and hopefully whatever decision JR makes it'll be the one that is best for the team.

why? he can't do it here. i don't care what he or any former panther does somewhere else. if you can't get it done here i don't want you here. i want to get someone here who can.

the worst thing any organization can do is sit back and hope for things to get better instead of taking a proactive approach to making the team the best it can possibly be.

that is exactly the approach that fox has taken for most of his time here. he did something cool when he got here and more or less rebuilt the team. the only problem was he held on for dear life to what he had created. i put hurney into the same boat. both share equal blame/praise for what personnel decisions were made.

fox has done everything possible to protect his status quo. he succeeded in taking a crap team and taking it to the superbowl. the only problem was he couldn't get it in his head that you have to keep doing that year after year. you constantly fix things if you want to be constantly successful.

you get one thing right then you go and make something else right. you never stop or think it's good enough. just because you did good enough last year doesn't mean you are going to be good enough this year. just because you did good enough last time you faced the cards doesn't mean that you are going to be good enough to beat them in the playoffs.

he is resistant to change. in a sport where things are always changing, always evolving, and the good teams are always adjusting...that just isn't going to cut it.

Did anybody else notice that NBC directly lifted this thread stat for their broadcast? Good strategy by NBC to just read the most popular message board for the teams each week.

That's it cause nobody in NBC's research department is as educated or knowledgeable as you.
