Dubious distinction for John Fox if he returns to the Panthers next season

He'll be here next year

I think so too. Anybody who doesn't think the potential lockout in 2011 will have a major effect on all NFL business transactions this offseason really hasn't thought things through. That lockout looked only slightly possible two years ago. Now it is very possible.

He'll be the first coach in NFL history to have coached nine seasons with the same team without a single set of back-to-back winning seasons. That's pretty amazing.

Not as amazing as the fact that somebody had so little of anything resembling a life that they chose to research that. THAT IS AMAZING.:D

So is the plan to not have a head coach heading into the 2011 season just in case there is a lockout?

Seriously?

What he means is that signing someone to a multi year deal this off season could be incredibly bad business as there is a potential lockout on the horizon. JR might see it as fortunitus planning that has left him with his head coach's contract expiring just as the lock out is due. That way if a lock out DOEs occur then he currently has no contract in place for a head coach, meaning he is not paying anyone to do squat all.

In the event that the lockout does not happen he can say goodbye to Fox and then hire someone else in the 2010 post season.
