Jake Delhomme: Coach?

I don't see him in a broadcast booth, but he could certainly be a coach at some level if he had interest. I've always been a Jake fan (up until the middle of this season), and it's always been because of his passion and leadership abilities...never because of his skill level. If he could fire up a team with what he's got in his heart, he could really help someone.

Im not sure what I think about the idea in the op, but I would disagree with this statement. Knowing what you are supposed to do as a quarterback does not translate into being able to do it. Knowing how to do it well does not necessarily translate into being able to teach someone else to do it.

Exactly.

You may very well be right. Personally though, I want someone teaching me that not only knows what to do, but could do it himself. To me, that makes it much easier to trust what you are being taught with confidence. My LB coach at Bridgewater was a NFL player so maybe I'm just spoiled though.

I know this is football, but what about all the MLB managers and coaches who weren't great players, but became good coaches? Torre, Lasorda, Davey Johnson, Lou Piniella, Dusty Baker? Could they do everything they taught to perfection? No.

EDIT: Scratch Dusty off the list. He sucks.
