Jake Delhomme: Coach?

IMO, the guys without natural talent make better coaches. I think that Jake would be a better coach than someone like Peyton Manning.

:iamwithstupid:

This is how it works in baseball. The best coaches normally were never the best players. If he wanted to, I bet Jake could be a coach.

Actually, few know this but Jake already has a self-coaching book for QBs in pre-production. The short list of the current chapters include:

1) Forward: My Success in the League

2) How to Hand off the Ball

3) Play-action passing: no fakes required

4) Lockdown: Finding your primary reciever

5) Putting the ball where no one can get it

6) The Smoke Route

7) Taking a sack: no grip required

8) The 8 second Pocket

9) Fiddlesticks: Managing gametime frustration

10) Getting in good with your coach

11) Faking injuries on your way to retirement

Hasn't found a publisher yet. Weird.

You forgot:

12) The Art of the Tantrum: How to get the referees on your side

13) It's All on Me: Placing blame on yourself first to gain respect from teammates

14) Be the Hero: Win the game under 2 minutes or your money back

15) Wardrobe Malfunction: Get the FCC off your back

I like Jake Delhomme, but I can't see him being a very good coach. At least not at this level. He has poor mechanics and if he can't teach himself, I wouldn't trust him to be able to teach someone else.

Im not sure what I think about the idea in the op, but I would disagree with this statement. Knowing what you are supposed to do as a quarterback does not translate into being able to do it. Knowing how to do it well does not necessarily translate into being able to teach someone else to do it.

You may very well be right. Personally though, I want someone teaching me that not only knows what to do, but could do it himself. To me, that makes it much easier to trust what you are being taught with confidence. My LB coach at Bridgewater was a NFL player so maybe I'm just spoiled though.
