We went 15-1 with Ted Ginn as our number 1.

We went 15-1 with a historically unique unicorn QB having an MVP season with elite D lead by a future Hall of Famer.

Unless you got something crazy to put on the field (which we did)….that was a WR corps you lose with

Higgins is a great comp for burns. Great player, very important position, not elite, wants elite money. Delusion

No, the delusion is thinking Higgins isn't a clear cut #1 WR in this league, which he is, even if he's the #2 on his current team.

I said this the other day, people really struggle to differentiate the difference between a #1 in real life football and in fantasy football.

No, Higgins is not a #1 WR in fantasy football, just a high end #2.

But there are 32 teams in the NFL, to think Higgins isn't AT WORST a Top 20 WR and quite probably a Top 15 is just people kidding themselves.  And any WR in the Top 20 in today's NFL is easily a #1 WR, with Higgins likely solidly in the Top 15 at the position, it's clear as day that he's a #1.

In the 4 weeks that Chase was out injured last season, Higgins had 26 catches, for 371 yards and 2 TDs.  Extrapolated out across 17 games, thats 110 catches for 1,576 yards, and 8.5 TDs.  That would have been good for 3rd in both catches and yards in the league last season.

In what world are those NOT #1 WR numbers?

Higigns is legit and I hope we bust down his door handing him a contract next offseason if the bengals don't re-sign him.

I'm definitely not against it, I just hope that when the time comes, we don't feel the need to do that and can use that money elsewhere.

There is a very real possibility that Mingo shows #1 potential by the end of the year, if he does that and TMJ has his best year yet, I think we could look at them as the Top 2 next year and put that $15-20 million towards another need.

The other problem with going after him is that it seems very unlikely that he'll ever hit unrestricted FA.  Unless the Bengals need to use their franchise tag on someone else, I'd be shocked to see them let him walk away for free, they'll tag him to be able to trade him for a good draft pick.

I don't really want to have to give up our 2nd rounder and then give him a $20 million a year deal on top of it, not when we're already lacking draft picks at the moment.

Just bc ur the top wr on your teams depth chart doesn’t mean you’re a true wr1. Was ted Ginn a wr1? Nothing to do with fantasy. Higgins would be a solid, not good, wr1

edit: I just reread my original comment and realized I never even mentioned this wr1 thing. You just made up an argument lmao

You’re right, those 4 games where Chase was injured and Higgins put up numbers equivalent to what would have made him 3rd in the league in catches and yards proves he couldn’t be a true #1

My “cool story bro” is that I met Tee at his camp this summer. I work with D1 Training and we were facilitating a lot of the drills for kids. Nice guy! His mother is a bit of a local celebrity around his old high school. I saw her last week and she kept telling me to make sure I get Tee for my fantasy team this year.

Tee is a legit #1 receiver though. That's why it was seen as a luxury pick to take Jamar Chase instead of Penei Sewell in the draft. Turns out Chase happens to be elite, but Higgins himself is still a #1 level receiver. I'd put him on the same level as DJ Moore If not better, because I think Higgins runs better routes.

It'd be a boon for us to somehow get him.

I'd like to think we will treat at least 1 trade or FA signing this next year as a 1st-round level acquisition to compensate for not having a first in the draft. Ideally, I'd like to see that either as a 3 down DL or playmaker WR.  We could win this year but it's easy to see that this offense needs playmakers badly.

Higgins would be a very solid target.  You're probably looking at the likes of Mike Evans, Gabe Davis, and his teammate Boyd come 2024.  Higgins is the youngest (24) and would be an ideal target to grow in an offense with Bryce. He seems to get knicked up a lot, but doesn't tend to miss a tone of time.

    • He can say what he feels, but he's not saying "the previous year, the team wasn't very good" he directly called his teammates out and in a way that is flat-out not true. "You are your record"? Oh ok, he's only had 3 winning seasons, but in my mind he isn't a loser, and I bet he isn't in his either - cause football is a team sport and wins and losses are on the team, even when one really bad player (Jimminy Pickles) can basically screw over everything.  And this comes on the heels of his thing about the MVP, which is fine, but also selfish. His teammates consistently went to bat for him... Just feels like he's more about himself.
    • Good point--I think this draft is great for us at this time--At the top of the draft, the DT (DEs/NTs in 3-4) are loaded.  The Edges are deep.  We need to double dip there--hoping to move back so we can add three players to that pool.  In free agency, if I were Morgan, I would focus on DBs and  ILB--fix the back end of the defense.  If he signed a S, CB, ILB, and TE, it would be cost effective.  In the draft, DE, Edge, and WR should be the priorities.  After that, OL Depth, QB depth, DB depth, RB depth.  My Free agent Targets:  TE: Juwan Johnson, Saints.  29, had over 500 yards with Saints. S: Julian Blackmon, Colts.  He will be one of the top free agents--gonna cost us, but not like an edge or WR. ILB: Tyrel Dodson, Dolphins.  80 tackles on just 854 snaps--under 27 years of age. CB: Mike Jackson, Carolina.  He is 28 and had 3 picks and was on the field at all times.  68 PFF score. NT:  best available for Evero's system.
