The former second-round pick out of Clemson is not believed to be in the Bengals’ future plans. Higgins was offered a contract extension this offseason but it didn’t meet what Higgins is expecting to get on the open market. Cincinnati’s front office will have the option to apply the franchise tag next offseason on Higgins to keep him around for one more season but that doesn’t seem likely.

obviously, much more pressing issues on the roster, but heyworth discussing if he actually hits the trade block. Great big body WR that I feel would pair wonderfully with Young.

Thoughts?

If they aren't going to pay Higgins, they're not going to trade him (and draft picks) for a DE that they have to give $10 million more a season for.

Can't see any situation where they trade him this year, they are legitimate SB contenders with him, it's worth losing him for nothing after the season to make a run at the SB with him this year for them.

Best guess is he plays out the year, then they tag and trade him next offseason.

They are going to have to get Bryce a serious weapon next year. I think they will pay to do it.

Tee Higgins isn't a number one WR it's similar to the Brian Burns arguments you guys wouldn't want us to pay him and he's looking to get paid as well. Its very similar he's not a top tier WR but a step below Burns is not a Bosa level DE but a step below.

I meant the Bengals.

Ja'Marr is Burrow's best friend and in the competition for WR #1, so he's also gonna get paid. They just made Joey B the new highest paid QB (I think?). They're not gonna be able to add a Top 5 grossing edge's contract onto that.

he had 908 Receiving yards his rookie season and he was the #1. He's maintained similar numbers to his #1 production as the clearcut #2.

Sure he could be "just another #2" but both his tape and production leaves one to think he can at least be the same tier Moore was.

This is the Huddle. If you're not a top 5 WR at worst then you aren't a #1 WR. a true #1 NFL WR is a mythical beast on the Huddle which is weird given our fairly sorry history at WR.

We could have traded Burns to Chi and kept Moore, who was already under a bargain long term contract.  But nope - now we gotta trade Burns for a WR who we will pay 25M per year.  Fitt is legit on the hot seat now.

You aware that a message board suggestion isn't reality?

We turned down 2 firsts for Burns, we weren't going to then turn around and trade him along with 2 of our own firsts to move up for Bryce.

Plus, I don't think the Bears wanted Burns, they knew they needed WR help for Fields and there wasn't anyone close to as good as him available in free agency this offseason.

    • I don't get the Hunter hate. Just imagine his ceiling if he stopped trying to be this 2way freak and focused on one side of the ball
    • 100%.  You have to play the cards that are dealt.  Not the cards you wish were dealt.
    • I'd say its definitely going to be addressed this off-season.  We went into the last draft with a roster of RBs including:  Chubba, Blackshear, and Miles Sanders. We picked Jonathan Brooks in the second and still signed Rashaad Penny afterwards.  Fast forward....One turned into a top 10 back, 1 is injured/out for most if not all the '25 season, 1 retired, 1 will either take a huge paycut or be cut, and the last is a restricted free agent. We brought in Mike Boone as well. Add him to the free agent list also.  We need a physical option.    Which qualifies:  Ashton Jeanty(Boise St): Overall ranked Top 10. Almost 2k yards after contact, 28 tds. Would take our first rounder. My money would be on an NFC East team selecting him. (97.2 PFF run grade) - 121 forced missed tackles.  Omarion Hampton(UNC): Ranked everywhere from 20 - 59 overall. Consensus #2 back after Jeanty. He'll be a second rounder. 1,222 Yards after contact w/ 15 tds.  (90.5 PFF run grade) - 72 forced missed Tackles Kaleb Johnson(Iowa): Ranked from 38 - 69 depending on which media outlet you prefer but generally #3. 2nd/3rd possibly. 1,060 Yards after contact w/ 21 tds.(86.7 PFF run grade)- 66 forced missed tackles Cam Skattebo: Ranked from the 50's - 104. Every mock I do he ends up BPA at some point. 969 Yards after contact w/ 17 tds(92 PFF Run Grade). Probably the best receiving back of the group. 81 forced missed tackles.  If the '24 and '25 draft classes were combined, IMO the rankings would be, in order: Jeanty, Hampton, Brooks, Johnson, Skattebo. I wouldn't take one high but I'd take one for Chubba and Brooks insurance.
