I mean, I was just responding to the declaration that if Burns wasn’t on the field the D couldn’t tie their own shoes.  

in the one game he didn’t suit up for last year, they won with D.   So they can add 1+1 and do some basics.  

and we got Evero.  He created pressure last year when they traded Chubb.   

Obviously you want Burns.  I’m just saying there are limits.  It’s a replaceable league.   Hence why all the contracts of pass rush specialist of late….have been deals with new teams.

Because for the money he's asking, he should be more than just a pass rush specialist. He's Hassan Reddick at a much higher price.

plenty of pass rushers have been on the move of late…..for practically half the guarantee money of Bosa. 

maybe folks would want to see Burns maybe play one real game in our new scheme before  locking up 120+ guaranteed.

For having inconsistent team performance over the years, it is wild how we got used to having “Bosa” type guys pretty consistently. The Greene/Lathon years, Peppers, Jenkins (for a couple years), Smitty, Beason, Kalil, Kuechly, CMC…

We have had guys for most of the history of the franchise who you could consider top 3, if not the best, in the league at their craft. 
 

Is that why some aren’t satisfied with Burns? I don’t know. Maybe not the whole reason, but maybe that’s part of it. 

I think it comes down to having the biggest freak of all at his same position, Mr. Peppers. People are spoiled on that mans pure generational talent. Hard to compare anyone to live up to that. I find myself even thinking every time someone mentions a good defensive end we have or a good linebacker, the first thing I start thinking is "they are no Luke or no Julius". Those are some nearly impossible shoes to fill there.

He doesn't anymore really. He did his first season in the league but not really anymore.

All stats aside, game on the line, Panthers needs a defensive play to be made, do you think you’ll be hollering Burns’ name in a few seconds? I hope so but don’t think so… there’ve been players where you knew they’d step up.. 91, 51, 90, 52, 58, 59 were reliable, 0 is questionable…..

watch Bosa play, there’s little to no doubt he’s prob’ly gon’ make a play, it’s more probable than it isn’t… Burns hasn’t showed that, he doesn’t have that… love for the game…

Luke once talked about, and I’ve used this speech coaching girls’ softball, it’s the players that love the game that really excel. There’s lots of players that have the physical traits, and/or like the game, have the head for the game and are really good at the game, but it’s the ones that love the game that truly excel at their game… 

Seems to me burns is happy being in the spotlight, being the superstar instead of being the quiet beast.. Panthers fans have been spoiled with quiet beasts over the years….
