#1, #2 and #3 receiver

We all seem to have so many opinions, Let's see about this question

Give your best description of what you think a #1, #2, and #3 receivers job is on the field and then who do you feel would compliment each other on the field for the Panthers(note: does not have to currently play for the Panthers)

example

#1 : Steve Smith?

blah blah blah

#2 Moose?

blah blah blah

#3 welker?

blah blah

And does anyone feel as if our #1 SS is STILL a #1 WR or is he better off as a Welker type WR?

I strongly disagree with everyone who thinks there has been some significant decrease in Smith's and Moose's abilities. The reason they seem to have lost a step is the same reason Jarrett seems to suck so bad, and our tight ends never get involved. The reason: QB play and coaching.

I feel as though I can't make any sort of judgment on our receivers abilities because they have not been given a fair chance this year. For awhile I thought steve smith had lost his ability to beat DBs deep. But it turns out that delhomme was underthrowing balls so bad that by the time the camera pans downfield smith had already made his adjustment and the db had already moved in to cover the pass. The past couple games with moore in there, I've seen #89 10 yards behind the defense several times (moore still underthrows but not as bad).

So I say:

1. Smith

2. FA

3. Moose

#1 - Stretch the defense by going deep, be the main target, make the impossible catch, SCORE SCORE SCORE, cause nightmares for D coaches.

#2 - Take pressure off the #1 and be ready to take over the spot at any point in the game or for any entire game should the #1 be shut down, make the impossible catch, outclass their #2 CB.

#3 - Possession man. Get first downs, SCORE, make the impossible catch.

The Panthers have a #1 but that's it. But playing the fantasy name guess is a waste. We can maybe sign a #2 as a FA if we're lucky, but the draft is where we need to look. We can easily sign a #3 in FA.

But without a QB, who cares.

I agree without a QB none of it matters.

I think what I meant about naming a player for the respective position, I meant, who in your opinion, plays that position the way it should be played the best in the nfl

FYI - I started the thread because I'm tired of no real dialog. It seems everyone just races to post the first new news update before anyone else

Firstly, if the Front Office doesn't like Matt Moore, then they need to get SOMEONE to do the job. Personally, Matt Moore will be an awesome QB if he is practicing with the first string guys for an entire offseason. In a few seasons, he will be an above average QB no doubt in my mind. I have faith in this guy.

On with the topic of interest:

#1: Smitty. Obvious why.

#2: (Granted Moose retires soon) A FA is needed. I REALLY wish they would've got Anquan Boldin rather than drafting Julius Peppers. He would've been a good fit.

#3: A Draft Pick. Golden Tate, maybe?

Those are my thoughts

In the Panthers offense?

#1 - Spread the defense and open up the run game by being the consistent deep pass threat. Have sure fire hands and the ability to do great things after the catch.

#2 - Keep pressure off of the #1 by making good catches and converting downs, but also be ready to block a great deal for the runners. Be ready to run deep if asked.

#3 - Primarily, function as a decoy or as an additional blocker for the runners. Be ready to make big things happen with the minimal number of catches you'll be getting, but always force your name into the opposing DC's conversations.
