Why is Delhomme not on IR?

Maybe it had to do with converting 3 out of 13 third downs. We were in third and long all day due to incomplete passes, penalties and general offensive mismanagement. We did run when it was third and short and made all three of our first downs by running. Moore was inconsistent all day and we had one extended drive in the 3rd/4th quarter and we settled for 3 points. If we had longer drives and makeable first downs we would have run more. As it was we ran 26 times and threw 30. What killed drives was penalties and incomplete passes. Running more wasn't practical given how it was feast or famine all day. We had some big runs but lots of 2 and 3 yarders.

Go back and look at the play by play and get back with me,

the reason we were 3rd and long is b/c we weren't running enough. For a so called "running team" we only ran 1 time on 1st and the following 2nd down in the entire game. We opted to pass more than we should have leading to incompletions, penalities and long 3rd downs. Play to your strength and not your weakness into an opponents weakness.

get back to me when you are ready to quit defending everything Fox does.

He's not on IR because he wasn't hurt. Fox demoted him to backup QB and didn't want to admit it.

I agree. Fox did the same thing a few years back.

I feel the opposite that Steve Smith apparently does: I always liked Jake Delhomme as a quarterback, still do. But I do think its fair to say his best football is behind him.

Jake has every right to ride out the Pepper's-UFA-year contract he was given on the Panther's bench as a solid backup quarterback and consultant. If he retires instead, it will be a huge personal sacrifice for him not only as a semi-viable player but financially, and he probably wouldn't get the respect from fans he'd deserve for doing it. But he might still do that anyway, because he's a good guy.

I know for me if jake decides to hang it up its gonna be sad day for me cause jake is my fav panther of all time and has left us with alot of great memorys.

Go back and look at the play by play.

On the first series, first play Williams runs for no gain which is why we were in second and long so we logically pass. That is incomplete forcing a third and long and another logical pass which is incomplete.

On the second drive- Moore throws an incomplete pass and Williams runs for only 4 yards setting up a 3rd and six which is a passing down for most any team.

On the third drive- we run 3 times in a row. Williams goes for 13 yards on first down- then he gets -2 yards on first down and no gain on second down. Setting us up in third and long again.

On the fourth drive Stewart runs for 7 yards and Smith catches the TD on second down.

On the fifth series we throw incomplete to Moose, then Stewart gets stuffed for -2 yards and with a holding penalty it is 2nd and 20. Stewart runs for 8 yards and it is 3rd and 12. Moore is charged with another delay penalty and it is 3rd and 17 from our own 14. So Sutton runs the draw for 6 yards and we punt again.

It wasn't until our 6th drive that we had a makeable third down to run the ball and we did with Smith for 2 yards. What set it up? A pass for 7 yards to Barnidge. Otherwise both Williams and Stewart ran it for 2 yards apiece on that drive.

So we have run the ball so far for a total of 10 times for 42 yards. Sounds good right? Not when you see that we have gotten 2 first downs in 6 drives and failed to convert on 5 out of 6 straight third downs. The TD was the only bright spot which was a pass.

If you look at the play by play you realize that we passed because we were in third and long as much because our running didn't work or with penalties we were taken out of a makeable running situation.

NO one is defending Fox so much as using logic and reality based on the facts instead of blind criticisms with no basis. But continue to argue on, basing your comments on everything but the facts hasn't stopped you yet.

you probably think I dislike you but I don't.....I just have almost the complete opposite view from you do. That is life I guess. The only way you will ever see Fox's flaws is for Fox to write a book and it has a chapter titled: My Flaws.

Problem for me is that you say the same thing over and over even when the facts dispute it. I have said I want Fox replaced. My beef with you is not that you have an opposite view, lots of folks do lately, but that you often have no logic or facts to base it on. Like the above.

I want Fox gone because I believe he undermines his staff and micromanages them during the game overturning their calls which undercuts morale. I think Davidson and Meeks would be more successful if they were allowed to do their job. So you can stop with the unwarranted criticisms which don't reflect my views at all.

There are likely legitimate beefs about my views you could discuss without manufacturing them.

See that is the thing, you do the EXACT same thing I do but from the opposite side......you choose to look at your "facts" through your own biased viewpoint.....as I do the same. Only difference is you think your opinion is fact....and I think mine is an opinion.

There potentially is for, say, a coach who needs an excuse as to why his results this season were so bad and/or a reason why he shouldn't be fired.

I doubt its an excuse because no would buy it. Jake was healthy for most of the year.

Fwiw, I would love to see jake come back against New Orleans, have a great game, and then see us pick up another QB to come in and compete for the starting job.
