if we draw a line in the sand over $3 million we are inept

It's never the big number. It's the structure and guaranteed. We aren't getting any details whatsoever. That this guy doesn't talk about that aspect suggests hes not particularly knowledgeable about any of it

This guy seems to be going off of what was assumed months ago. More recent reporting suggests Burns asking 30+. Who really knows.

If we offered 24 and he wanted 27 months ago and we couldnt figure something out 5 days prior to the opener then something is severely wrong with both parties involved

Again from what person said it feels like they were so far apart the panthers went dark and started this game of chicken with burns and his people

I mean it has to be a 4/5 year deal so maybe they are haggling of the guaranteed portion of it.  But no way he accepts a 3 year deal when he has this type of leverage

I've kept thinking why didn't we just give him 27M per to begin with?  Seems like they're making this way harder than it needs to be.  I imagine it'll prolly take 28M per now.

No deal has been made.

There is a tentative agreement on the yearly salary as I said last night but still too far apart on guaranteed amount and signing bonus.

At this point I do not care whether he signs it or not. He's pretty much invisible on gamedays anyway.

Not trying to come across as rude or anything but.....are we sure that we can trust your info? I remember during draft season you reporting that the team was unimpressed with the rookie QB's at the combine and that they really wanted Carr. Also that Stroud was definitely gonna be the pick even when the Bryce rumors were picking up.

You could be right here, but idk im weary. For my money The Crown and the Claw is the most accurate "leaker" on this board. Again, not trying to be rude but yeah.

Either way though, I think a deal will get done. Just a matter of when. I'd like to have Burns out there week 1 though for sure.

^^^^ lol.... everyone calls this guy out, but according to him, it's everyone else who is crazy and stalks him.  I'm sure he's right and the dozens of people who have called him out over the last few months are all the crazy ones.

It's okay bud, you just don't understand how the real life NFL works, you're too stuck in how you can run a team in Madden and manipulate the system to get everyone and anyone you want.

Cue the stalking claims (even though he's the latest post on the most active thread on the forum) in 3, 2, 1..............

    • I don't get the Hunter hate. Just imagine his ceiling if he stopped trying to be this 2way freak and focused on one side of the ball
    • 100%.  You have to play the cards that are dealt.  Not the cards you wish were dealt.
    • I'd say its definitely going to be addressed this off-season.  We went into the last draft with a roster of RBs including:  Chubba, Blackshear, and Miles Sanders. We picked Jonathan Brooks in the second and still signed Rashaad Penny afterwards.  Fast forward....One turned into a top 10 back, 1 is injured/out for most if not all the '25 season, 1 retired, 1 will either take a huge paycut or be cut, and the last is a restricted free agent. We brought in Mike Boone as well. Add him to the free agent list also.  We need a physical option.    Which qualifies:  Ashton Jeanty(Boise St): Overall ranked Top 10. Almost 2k yards after contact, 28 tds. Would take our first rounder. My money would be on an NFC East team selecting him. (97.2 PFF run grade) - 121 forced missed tackles.  Omarion Hampton(UNC): Ranked everywhere from 20 - 59 overall. Consensus #2 back after Jeanty. He'll be a second rounder. 1,222 Yards after contact w/ 15 tds.  (90.5 PFF run grade) - 72 forced missed Tackles Kaleb Johnson(Iowa): Ranked from 38 - 69 depending on which media outlet you prefer but generally #3. 2nd/3rd possibly. 1,060 Yards after contact w/ 21 tds.(86.7 PFF run grade)- 66 forced missed tackles Cam Skattebo: Ranked from the 50's - 104. Every mock I do he ends up BPA at some point. 969 Yards after contact w/ 17 tds(92 PFF Run Grade). Probably the best receiving back of the group. 81 forced missed tackles.  If the '24 and '25 draft classes were combined, IMO the rankings would be, in order: Jeanty, Hampton, Brooks, Johnson, Skattebo. I wouldn't take one high but I'd take one for Chubba and Brooks insurance.
