I almost feel like we need to stash Bryce until we build up the offense.  He is the guy but damn he might get destroyed mentally with this offense

Bryce will be fine. He's just different mentally. He just gets it, he understands the game at a level that greatly offsets his size disadvantage. Maybe that's what's driven him to learn as much as he can about the game, and use his ability to process information at the levels he can to his advantage.

Whatever it is he is just got that Cam Newton rarity thing that makes them unique.  It's difficult to explain because they are so unique.  He's more in the mold of Luke when it comes to preparation and Mahomes in the field.  Will he succeed in the league? I truly believe he will barring injury, just as with anyone else.

I agree…Bryce is the man.  If he is able to lead this ragtag offensive bunch to the playoffs it will be like Kelly Leak awesome.  Bad news bears ref

This current team is not a finished product. So I'm not expecting playoffs this season. But if they somehow make it, it will be largely due to his impact and the ability of these coaches.

anyone trying to blame all the “bad things” on Rhule simply because he’s not here and fitterer is is being intellectually dishonest

Rhule played his hand in his push for Mayfield and the lack of practice work Corral got last season.

Fitterer spoke very glowingly of Corral. All the smoke points towards that being a Fitterer pick.

Difference between last year and this year?

Fitt had the benefit of a grown up coaching staff with tons of pro experience not just as coaches but players.

Bryce wasn't a Fitt pick. It was a true collaboration with Reich, McCown, Brown, and Caldwell. Last year who did Fitt have helping make the decision? Tepper and Macadoo?

I really hope that no one looks at the Corral pick as being a failure and then lumping the Bryce pick as a potential failure because the same GM picked both of them.

Of course I'm sure there are people in here doing exactly that

We cannot absolve Fitterer of that he was very vocal about Corral being part of our future on draft night.

Can't keep blaming Rhule for everything.

I beginning to think/believe the Fitterer hire is the equivalent of organizations throughout the league who have attempted to use New England as their blueprint. That is, hiring away NE coaches and executives expecting NE magic. When, in fact, there is only one Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.  Fitterer, as we know, came from Seattle. And we are seeing that you simply can't dupicate Pete Carroll and Russell Wilson.

Bottom line: It looks like Fitterer is nothing special.

Yeah...not at all how it works in the real world.

Throw in too that there are plenty of situations where one guy is better at his role than the other. What you're advocating is the proverbial throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

Under your logic, the Eagles should have fired Howie Roseman about three coaches ago. Yet during that span they've been to the Super Bowl twice.

Guess it's a good thing they don't listen to you 😕

Well in the real world of the Carolina Panthers…they haven’t won in a half decade.  Have a grand total of 2 winning seasons in the last 10 years.

and in the real world, Tepper is in this “game”to build his wealth and influence.  Anything else is just fun icing on the cake.

and yeah, when you got a flaming bag of dog poo era like the Matt Rhule era was….I most certainly advocate throwing it all out the window.

I’ve acknowledged there are exceptions to everything.  Eagles?  The worst coaching era their GM has been part of?? That coach had a better win % in Philly than any coach in our history has pulled here.   And opened up with back to back winning seasons. Which makes the majority winning seasons.  Hell, he was part of a freaking unicorn.   He actually was part of a college football coach actually seeing success in the NFL.   There was no clown show to throw the baby out with.

I told everyone Howell was the best out of that draft.  I also said Bryce was the best out of this draft so we are good here

Also pined for Justin Fields but that’s another story

One the funniest things I saw on ESPN was a bit about Dak Prescott being worried about Trey Lance.  Lance was always going to be a bust.

I was public enemy #1 when I mentioned trading for Justin Fields.

Funny how people ignore the lack of talent around a QB. Dude now throwing screens to DJ Moore and taking it to the house.

Get ready folks Fields will put the NFL on notice this year. He's the real deal!

I personally, don't think Fields is going to progress much at all and that Bears fans will be upset that they didn't keep the pick and take Bryce.

Fields just doesn't see the field well. Runs like a monster though so it kind of makes up for it to an extent, but I don't really think he excels as a passer in the modern NFL.

S'pose we'll see. I hope I'm right and we ended up making the right call all along.

Fields has all the talent in the world but as you said, doesn't read the field well which you need for long term success.

I totally agree here…Fitty has this habit of letting the draft board dictate his picks.  He can’t wait for a run of players and grab the #3 or #4 guy at a position.  He needs to be aggressive and grab the #1 guy if possible.  This trend worries me but as you said, time will tell.

The best draft strategy is this…take the best NFL talent regardless of position.  You can’t get cute, people in this league are to smart for that barring complete luck

Well he did also recently draft the #1 QB in this draft. Lol.

Overall I am a little skeptical of Fitterer. Some of these 2nd and 3rd round Hurney-esque trade ups have me concerned.

Yeah sorry, but this idea that coaches and GMs should be fired together is probably one of the silliest I've seen.

Strategy like that would mean essentially rebuilding entire front offices and coaching staffs every few years. That kind of organizational instability even older Al Davis's Raiders would look down on.

To top it all off, while decrying David Tepper as an owner, you are at the same time suggesting that he should be in charge of reorganizing the entire team structure every time somebody gets fired.

I hope this is one of the times you're bullsh-tting because this is some of the dumbest takes I've seen around here in a while.

Overall Fitterer’s track record as a GM here has more bad than good. Wouldn’t be surprised if he gets the ax after this season.

It's difficult to determine where Rhule's responsibility for our current state of the team ended and Fitterer's responsibility began, but for the day Rhule was fired. That's the only clear line of demarcation that we really have. [Not to mention, that we know that Rhule had full roster control] As such, I would be surprised if he is axed after the season.

I think that Tepper did an accounting before he axed Rhule. He decided that Fitterer would have a certain amount of time to right the ship. Being that Tepper seems like a relatively patient guy, not given in to knee-jerk reactions, I believe that the only thing that would get Fitterer fired after this season is a gross waste of resources. That was really the big no-no that Tepper mentioned in his first presser after Rhule was axed. So far, in my opinion, draft picks (plus D.J. Moore) that we spent relative to the value that we believe we're getting with Bryce Young was a good transaction. So we're good on that front. I don't think that anyone can argue that the cap isn't in great shape. So far, mission accomplished. Fitterer appears to be playing the long game.

There were a whole lot of teams that passed on Howell so not sure what they saw that made him drop down in the draft like he did.  Let's see how good Howell is after his third season before we start firing our GM.  Or we can run our team on kneejerk decisions.  I think that will work out well for us.

    • We really haven’t seen him in the playoffs. In the 2-3 games he has played he looked good. But those sample sizes are so small. It’s Koochies goal now. Let’s rally behind him.
    • lol the weather man? I think he had some substance abuse issues going on but might be doing better.
