Every season is new.  That win total from last year is meaningless.   Those teams don’t exist anymore.  We got to 7 with an abnormal amount of games against the worst run defenses in the NFL playing like it was 1963.

the QB isnt just logged as an upgrade over bad vets.   He is a rookie.  It’s its own thing.  Lot to learn and see.  Great rookie prospects have a really rough time learning those lumps.  Learning to win is hard.  And he has an entire cast learning a new scheme while he does.

And the roster around the QB week 1 on offense isn’t better than what we have put out there the last couple years.

People talk as though it's just one continuous season, and like the schedule is a carbon copy, and like all the other teams are just standing still.

I know damn well that the Saints are farther along on the curve to legitimacy than we are this season by virtue of their talent and experience alone, not to mention their staff and coaching continuity.

Well....Allen has never had a winning season and they have mostly new defensive coaches. Other than their long time OC there isn't much if anything to their coaching continuity.

Yeah I don’t think people are very fond of condescending “I know better than you” type posts in general.

Especially when ex pro running backs come out and say “relax it’s just preseason “ you can be concerned but over reactionary and dismissive of the team.

Not to mention that 6, possibly 7, of the 11 starters on offense are new. Only 1 of those are on the oline. None of them have played together before and all of them are learning a new system.  And they all are lead by a rookie qb.

On defense there are 5 new starters. That's 5 of 11 new players on defense that is learning a new scheme that most of them have never played before.

So yeah, that doesn't sound good for us. Not this season. But we can reck some playoff hopefuls dreams while they get their feet under them.

You don't seem to understand what happened this off-season.

It isn't a retooling.

They wiped the board completely clean and are starting over. It is not a continuation.

Looking at last year's record is completely meaningless.

Interesting

because our very own dam GM was quiet contrary to what you just said.

”We built the Defense, then the OL.  We’ve built up to where we can just drop in a QB”

not only A QB

”the most NFL ready QB”

Those weren’t yours, mine, or any huddler words.

Those were Carolina Panthers General Manger Scott Fitterer’s words.

It amazes me after all the bashing of Matt Fool and his multi year rebuild plan.  And then praise and point how the NFL you can turn it it around (pointing to Dabol)

Some of us revert right back to “several years down the line rebuild” expectations like that clown that just got fired had.

But we never did that.  We just hired better than Rhule’s staff.

our OC and DC combined have 1 year worth of experience in the job.   That’s potential.  That’s unknown.

Frank got fired for bland and pedestrian offense.  He is Ron Rivera.  He is Jon Fox.

and the icing on the coach cake was hiring a couple was hiring some 70 year olds to advise us in the 2023 era. Capers and Caldwell aren’t all stars in 2023.   Heck they weren’t decades ago.

this staff was about bringing some stability and respect to a franchise that became a literal laughing stock because of Rhule.  Which it did.  Frank, Caldwell, Capers.  Respect across the league.  And they got some young coordinators they hope the groom up and see grow.  But they got grow just like Bryce.

According to the media we did. It felt like after every hire that got tweeted, you had once analyst after the other tweeting that we are bullying something special with this great staff.

Burying the team after 2 preseason games is just as bad as predicting a super bowl.  I still stand by that this roster is between 7-10 and 10-7.  THAT is not based on last year, THAT is based on talent on the roster.  Moton got paid like a very good tackle, Icky was a top LT pick and should be growing into becoming elite.  Jaycee Horn should be growing, Brian burns, Derek brown.  Theres too many names to mention.  Fact is this is a playoff level roster, but theres 1 catch and its not Bryce young.  How healthy can we stay, its that simple, its always that simple and it always will be that simple.  Teams that stay healthy in our talent level position make the playoffs, you see it literally every single season, but if we have even a few key injuries, the season is tanked.

As Scot said. Factory reset with an upgraded processer.

You can't say last year is meaningless when every analyst, pundit, and coach looks at last years team to give an opinion. LOL. What is this amateur hour?

The giants where 9-7-1. A hair over 500. That's the type of season we can expect IMO

What Fitterer described was the roster building process.

The process of implementing a system is separate...and generally takes time.

And while the Giants one year turnaround looks great so far, what happens this year? Are they consistent or do they fall back to earth?

Nothing is guaranteed.

Another year of non playoff football would be another dreadful year. This team has great talent. We didn’t pick 1 becasue we were the worst team. We almost made the playoffs last year.  It’s absolutely an expectation to see them win the division with our talent. Too bad it seems either coaching/Playcalling/oline is not up to it so far.

they look bad right now.  Yes. Let’s see how they do week 1 when all the players are playing and we have an actual game plan. If we look like dog poo again week 1, that’s when it’s time to worry.
