was going to put this in my on going thread.

BAD COMPANY - A 1972 modern cowboy movie starring Jeff Bridges.

CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL - unconfirmed origin: after Norvel Creedence, a friend of John Fogerty's . His favorite beer was called Clearwater, after a brief absence from the marketplace it was re-introduced by another brewery - hence Creedence Clearwater Revival.

ELTON JOHN - Real name: Reginald Dwight. Created from two other British musicians: Elton Dean and Long John Baldry.

EMINEM - from his real name Marshall Mathers he took M&M and rewrote it phonetically as Eminem.

SKID ROW - Slang for a rundown inner city neighborhoods where alcoholics, junkies, street people can afford to live.

VAN HALEN - after Alex and Eddie Van Halen - suggested by David Lee Roth as being better than their original name "Mammoth." They might have been called 'Daddy Longlegs' if Gene Simmons of KISS had gotten his way - he partially financed and produced one of their original demo records and suggested names and artwork.

Ha i was going to ask Steely Dan.

How about Nickleback?

There was a music show on after WWE RAW back in the day, when Nickelback only had 'How you Remind Me' on the radio. They performed and was asked how they came up with the name in the post performance interview. drummer said he used to work at a Starbucks in Canada and everything came up to $_.95, so he would grab one from the drawer and say "Thanks, here's your nickel back"...

Heard a Lars Ulrich interview on Z-Rock back in like '89. He said that a guy he knew was starting a metal mag and asked Lars' help in picking a name out. The guy had a bunch written down and Lars liked 'Metallica' so he told the dude to name his mag "'Metal Blade' or something like that"..So he basically stole it...

Blind Melon is from an old Cheech & Chong skit...

311 is the Nebraska law enforcement code for Disturbing the Peace...

Dave Matthews Band - didnt have a working name---a bartender in Charlottesville took a call from one of the band members letting him know they'd be late---he said "what band is this?" Dave Matthews and his band became Dave Matthews Band

Led Zeppelin - Keith Moon heard their demo and insultingly said it would go over like a "lead zeppelin"

    • And really, it should be 4 reasons with the last one being that there were ZERO other offensive weapons on that team in 2024, opposing defenses only had to worry about one player all year long and they constantly double and triple teamed him right off the snap all season.  In 2023, we still had Jacob Cowing who had 90 catches that year and was drafted by the 49ers last year, so teams couldn't just send everyone after T-Mac on every passing down.
    • I wonder if the Hornets view Kon and McNeeley more as forwards and plan to ship off Green/Okogie/Smith for center help. I hope they don’t plan to ship off Sexton as I like what he brings to the team. (2) G - Ball, Mann, Simpson (two-way) (3) G - Sexton, Dinwiddie, Connaughton (3) F - Miller, Knueppel, McNeeley, James (two-way) (3) F - Bridges, Williams, Salaun (3) C - Diabate, Kalkbrenner, Plumlee
    • 3 main reasons he was better in 2023 and none of them concern me for his NFL prospects 1. Totally new coaching staff that was a massive downgrade and had god awful play calling and designs, the entire fan base was ready to run the coaching staff out of town a month into their first season and the play caller ended up getting changed because it was so bad. 2. Along with the staff downgrade, his QB played significantly worse after being the Pac 12 Freshman of the Year in 2023.  Constantly missed T-Mac when he was wide open, lost out on a number of TDs and a good amount of yardage, half the time T-Mac still almost made miraculous catches on the bad passes too. 3. He hurt his ankle over the summer and missed all of fall camp only to return to practice a few days before the season started and I think he had to deal with it all season long and was slightly limping at times mid season too, but kept fighting through it to still be a 1st team All American.
