All eyes on the OL in Practice today

With all due respect

Coach Reich should have a plan to always protect the new franchise QB. Practice , joint practice , preseason etc - it should never ever be to where they allow another defense to tee off on Bryce , that’s insane. To just go out there and wing it, someone is gonna get hurt. To use “preseason” as an excuse to not have the OL ready is really frustrating to hear as a fan when the new QB is so crucial. Whenever Bryce touches any type of the field , there needs to be a plan in place.

the OL - they’re in the big leagues and they act like they never seen a stunt before just because it’s preseason. That was some of the worst OL play I’ve ever watched. Really hard to believe that was a pro group out there. It was awful. And the Jets didn’t even have their big studs out there.

But I thought preseason performances meant nothing??  Everyone could see how bad the basic fundamentals of pass blocking were, preseason or not.  At least the staff isn't hiding or downplaying that poo needs work.

Preseason wins and losses mean nothing. But individual performance vs. their matchup matters. And the 5 offensive linemen can be seen as an individual too.

“Vanilla” gets thrown around as an excuse, but I think things are kept very basic to not only save concepts for the regular season, but also to see how players do in a raw matchup 1v1.

Our o-line was just beat up on. Scheme or no scheme. I agree. And now they get micro managed because of it.

Exactly

"Preseason", "Vanilla", "Not showing our cards" doesn't mean throwing Michael Jordan out there and getting your number overall QB murdered

Seriously. Why has he not been cut yet?  Hell, why is he even here at this point?  Hasn't he shown enough of his bad play?

And here we were thinking a month ago the online was one position we were set at

Just goes to show you, you can never draft enough offensive linemen for security.  These guys get fat and happy if they don't feel competition coming.

    • Some people will shift the goal posts but he does still have to consistently help the team win, eventually. Not only help but be the reason. That's what franchise QB's do.
    • One of the Carolina Panthers' newest defenders thinks their pass rush can go from worst to first. ESPN's David Newton recently chatted with outside linebacker Pat Jones II, who signed with the Panthers as a free agent earlier this offseason. Jones comes over from an awfully impressive Minnesota Vikings defense—one that ranked first in takeaways (33), fourth in sacks (49) and second in QB pressure rate (44.4 percent) this past season. And despite a historically-bad campaign by Carolina's defense in 2024, the 26-year-old seems to believe his new unit can be similar—or even better—than his last. "I definitely think we could do something similar, if not better," Jones said, via Newton. "I've seen it before, so I know what it looks like. I look around the building and see we have exactly what it takes to do that." https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/05/24/panthers-pat-jones-vikings-espn/83840667007/?taid=683219b347846900018fa10a&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter     It's the offseason.  Let hope spring eternal. (actually, I think we are much closer than this board thinks)
    • 5 total TDs against the Falcons was pretty good efficiency and he showed that ability to go off scripts and get 2 of those TDs rushing.  How many times did he deliver big time throws against pressure.  I agree we need to see this offense operate at high efficiency which starts with Bryce. When he does I hope the goals posts won’t shift to some other stat like QB sneaks lol
