Michael Oher claims Tuohy family tricked him into agreeing to conservatorship

Michael A. Fletcher of ESPN.com reports that former NFL left tackle Michael Oher has filed paperwork alleging that the Tuohy family never actually adopted him, and that they instead secured a conservatorship that allowed them to profit, at his expense.

The 18-page petition contends that Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy tricked him into signing a document that gave them the authority to make deals for him.

Oher claims that the Tuohys then used that power to sell film rights that paid out millions to the family — while Oher allegedly got nothing. He also contends that Leigh Ann Tuohy has continuously called Oher their adopted son, using this claim to boost their foundation and other projects.

If anyone was wondering what Oher has been up to since his retirement, apparently here’s some drama. Last I heard he had serious neurological damage from the concussion that ended his career.

Oher always hated how he was portrayed.  Seems to have really festered. 

I don't really get the fixation on it not being totally accurate.  No movie based on real life events is entirely accurate.  They always tweak stuff for the entertainment value.   It's a movie.  The real story wouldn't of been a good movie.  Just like the real Rudy story wouldn't of been.

If what the movie showed had any truth at all, it sure looked like that family didn't need much money as they had poo tons already. Kind of sucks to read that after you want the feel good story to at least be partially true.

Sucks to hear but I'd be lying if I said that I was surprised.

I don't think I've ever defended the NCAA and likely never will again, but in this case they were right. They knew there was fugery afoot in this case they just couldn't prove it.

The issue at hand appears to be he made no money from his own story, not the accuracy of the events.  Will see what more comes of it...

If you want to feel old, the Tuohy’s son is now the associate AD and Gus Malzahn’s chief of staff at UCF.

It seems like yesterday that Michael Oher saved him from going through the window of a pickup truck.

I think it's because of how poorly The Blindside itself has aged. Like yeah any "Based on a True Story" story is rightfully gonna have added drama, but Blinside really turned it up to an 11 to be in consideration for an Oscar and now it feels super tacky.

More that they faked adoption to use him for financial gain.

Sad story and I hope he gets justice. The weird white savior vibe of it all never sat right with me.

Yeah, it just looks really bad in hindsight how the movie basically vilified and made a mockery of the efforts made to investigate the situation when if these allegations are true then what they were attempting to investigate was exactly what was going on. Basically just exploiting a kid in an awful situation who just so happened to have elite athletic talent. Again, if true then they almost certainly wouldn't have given the kid a second glance if there wasn't something there for them to exploit. That's just sad.

Not to mention that here it was supposed to be about the story of Michael Oher when in reality the movie was about a white knight lady and Michael Oher was just a supporting character.
