Everyone lets chill. did we make mistakes yes did steve bail out jake a few times today yes. does jake and steve have chemistry def yes. but on some throws i don't blame jake because some if not all recivers were in too tight coverage for jake and he did what most QB do when they are in trouble they go to #1 target even if double covered. but any way... i do think Steve deserves to be atleast thought about as far a MVP.

he made the catch. so who cares?

Just pointing out that with a different outcome, no one blames Smith for not catching it....the heat comes down on Jake for forcing a ball where it didn't need to be.

Just because Smith caught it, it doesn't mean you can't discuss how fans would react had the play not turned out for the best.

Jake is our best option, no question about it at all but that doesn't mean I'm gonna be blind to the weak spots in his game. AND by the same token, I'm not gonna fail to recognize when Smitty or Moose (or anyone else) bails him out.

it's a team sport, bro. they all did good today.

Jake had some awesome protection today too, fwiw.

they all did pretty good. now we just neeed to work on the trgo's philosophy......

Some of you guys really need to wake up and see things how they are. Jake is our best option, no question about it at all but that doesn't mean I'm gonna be blind to the weak spots in his game. shinner, I agree with you for the most part. I'm a realist, I understand that Jake is an average QB who becomes above average for his fire and leadership, not for his arm or decision making.

I think a lot of the BJDJS become defensive when a Steve Smith thread turns into a Jake bashing thread and I can't blame them for that. Let's celebrate Steve's awesome catches today and the fact that we're #2 in the NFC with a bye. We can always post another thread to bash Jake, it's been done before... :D

I love this "bail out" theory since I've seen it applied to Jake but not the other 30+ QBs in the league.

There is a reason Jake will make those kinds of throws to Smitty, IT WORKS!!! It's not Jake/Smitty's fault that they've been able to get away with it since 2003 but until the day they hang it up, it's going to happen again and having some fans complaining post-game about it being risky is a small price to pay.

(...and as I finished typing this, Pennington just threw into double coverage and got "bailed out" by Ginn)

I agree with ya for the most part....but have no idea how we went to sleep and allowed the Saints to make a game out of it.

Yer probably right, I guess I didn't need to stir the pot but the BJDJS really get on my last nerve when they talk about how he has this plan worked out with the receivers to just chuck it up and let them come down with it. That's a pant-load my friend.

I couldn't care less about the other "30+ QBs in the league"...I care about the guy who's leading my favorite team....and in that regard, his receivers bail him out regularly.

See what I mean, Mintal?

The 'ol "hit the receiver in stride so he can run for days" school of thought is clearly outdated...

BTW - I AM LOVING THIS COWBOYS MELTDOWN! :lurk5:

So does the "let's harp on two bailout throws vs. the rest of the completions that were mostly good throws" mentality.

Is he a precise passer? No, never will be. Does he have a certain chemistry with Smitty that no other QB has had with him and make those throws only to him? Yes. Is it always a good thing? No. Is it more good than bad? Yes.

Great job by the offense bailing out the defense again.

I was about to say that but you said it better than I did. :D

(That, and the server is going monkey bananas...)

I promised myself I wouldn't get into these Jake fights this year and I'd like to think I did okay, not great, just okay.

1) You are the only that said anything about this "plan". Go ahead and show me where someone said Jake is great because he just throws up balls. Someone said that Jake and Smitty work on those throws because that IS TRUE OMG!!!!

2) You were stirring the pot from the start. Nobody "got on your nerve"
