Bryce is a different cat. I love the fact that such a young guy is mature, thoughtful and cerebral. Of course I always thought he was the guy as soon as we moved up, but admittedly started questioning myself--only a little--when people were crushing on Stroud. In retrospect I really can't see how our staff would've picked anyone but Young. He has an awesome football mind, and, I suspect, more intellect than many.

It's not that hard to understand.  I was one who liked Stroud over Young.

It's a simple matter of what we knew pre-draft.  Always keep that lens in mind.  We didn't have all this inside knowledge prior to the draft.  All we had to go on is college tape, the combine and pro days.

I was referencing our staff. But, I will say that anyone that really did their homework, knew that Young was special. The only REAL knock was his size. I said that so many times that I got tired of saying it. If he can protect himself like he always has (and I wouldn't bet against him, but acknowledge that injuries are always a risk), we'll see him do a lot of great things for us.

We all knew Young had a high football IQ, but many backup QBs do as well.  McCown is our QB coach but was never an elite player.  Stroud has the height and arm talent that can't be taught.  It's easy to see how many of us wanted him (especially after that Georgia game).  At the end of the say Stroud went 2 right after Young so it wouldn't have been a crazy reach.  I just trust in our staff and think they made the right decision with Young now that it's all said and done.

Imagine when he has some years under his belt. He could have Manning level football IQ when it’s all said and done. His arm has also looked stronger than advertised during camp. A lot of tight window darts and deep balls to Chark.

If he stays healthy, I truly believe he’ll be the best QB we’ve ever had.

Just imagine Bryce at year 5-6 playing against a bunch of 2-3 year defensive players.

He’ll eat them up.

I just hope he opts for a team friendly contract when it’s his time.

It's a little early to be thinking about that, but I will say that Bryce will likely want to get paid his market worth. Unless he's enlightened like Tom Brady, maybe he won't kill us when the time comes, but he will get paid, and it will be a lot.

For his sake, I hope he takes less so the team can keep a top 5 O line around him.
