What if JR lets them keep their jobs but they fire Davidson and Special Teams coach atleast. Bring in Charlie Weis and force them to find a new QB?

the thought of Fox back and Jake as starting QB to start the season will make for many deflated fans. They at that point will have to win and win fast.

Man, you guys are crazy.

People aren't going to quit on the Panthers just because Fox stays because most likely we'll have a winning season next year.

The fanbase is down this year because we're having a losing season, that happens with every team.

People will continue to go to games and buy beer and food at the stadium regardless of how the team is doing.

Sometimes, you guys just say the dumbest poo.

they won't qut but they will become less interested. people will continue to go to games 9seats are already aid for) but they won't be full and those who do go...most will leave early. it's already been a problem even on good years. when you are in the middle of a down year and, looking ahead, don't see the organization making any real changes....there is little reason for excitement. especially when you are used to seeing a mediocre team most years. why should you expect much more than that?

you get used to seeing the same under-achieving, disappointing team year after year and you just get bored with it. fans will leave early because they really don't see any sense in staying. fans leave early, that leaves concession stands (still open) with low sales. merchandise sales goes down because people aren't excited about what they are getting.

also advertising revenue takes a hit. if you aren't at the top and aren't making any serious changes showing that you want to be on top there is less buzz around your team. sponsors already strapped for cash will see less value in advertising at BoA.

there are other things that could be discussed but the bottom line is this....if a business wants to see a profit, especially a rise in profit, you have to put a better product out or at least do something that will make people believe that it's better. the status quo in the franchise isn't cutting it. it isn't growing. 8 years is long enough to see what fox can do with the team...skirting around .500, aiming low and hitting even lower most years, not being able to have back to back winning seasons...the team has peaked. until it makes serious moves at least showing that the team desires to go all the way, then the support of the fan base will have peaked and with it profit.

I think the chances of them being back next year is around 85%. With the prospect of an uncapped year who wants to pay big money for two head coaches?

Fox is one year removed from 12-4, still has a very solid D and one of the best running games in the league.

I imagine Fox will be here next season and possibly beyond.

uncapped year won't mean much. players under contract will stay under contract. most FAs will end up staying with their teams. only he first round picks will see any increase and even then i doubt it's much.

But, that will only impact 2 games. We will have the 3rd place team in the NFC North and the NFC East. This will be Chicago and either Philluy/Giants/Dallas (depending onhow that sorts itself out over the next 3 weeks).

We also have the AFC North and the NFC West.

I think next year will be a tough schedule...Pitts, Baltimore, Cinn, Arizona, SF, etc...

They are not thinking like a business owner.

6 mill you save to keep him. How much do you lose by keeping him? Losses in butts in the seats, concessions, merchandise....

more than 6 mill IMO.

Really they are acting like we are a poor team or something..... They would never question Dallas or the Redskins over 6 mill.

How great of a job do you think Fox will do as a lame duck coach in the last year of his contract? Plus, how does the GM actually prepare and run a decent draft when it doesn't really matter who is selected because chances are the GM will be gone after their rookie season. That's not the way to build a team and JR knows that. Think about the big picture....the Panthers have to fire the Hurney/Fox team or extend them.

One last thing....JR isn't in the best of health and I doubt he has a ton of patience to wait for Fox to find his past glory. How long has it been since we've won a playoff game? Fox is done...bank on it.

the past couple years fox/hurney hasn't exactly been in "building for the future" mode. it's been more of a mortgaging the future/win now philosophy coming from that duo in their drafting and FA moves.

not sure i want to trust those two any further with it being so obvious that they are on borrowed time.

it's time to start moving forward. cant do that with a lame duck in charge.

History tells us Fox will have a great year in 2010 then a bad year in 2011:frown2:
