Source:GM Hurney and coach Fox are likely to keep their jobs in 2010.

Ok...you have an investment worth ONE BILLLION DOLLARS and you are worried about paying 6 million bucks? Give me a freakin break that is the weakest bullsh*t I have ever heard.

The so-called "sources" need to learn a little math and see that 6 million bucks is a drop in the bucket for this organization.

Don't forget the $ 6 million Richardson would have to pay would be in addition to whatever he pays the new coach but more importantly, it would also require that Richardson have a GM and a coach under a new contract for a significant amount of time with a labor disbute looming after next season.

More likely than not, they'll be back. On a short leash and with some stipulations, but most likely they'll be back.

Now that is a real double edged sword. What if they go 14-2 and win the Superbowl next year? Do you let a winning Coach and GM go, just to start over??

neither capers nor seifert finished out their contracts. neither one went into the last year of their contract. in fact none of the three coaches has ever gone into the last year of their contracts. they were either given an extension or fired before that happened.

you fire a coach, you eat the remaining contract and pay for a new one. everyone does it...richardson has twice before. why is it so difficult to believe that he wouldn't do it now?

I don't think they are getting fired. If last year was a ok where we just squeaked into the playoffs or something like that I think they would be fired. But because we did so well last year I think he will let them play out the last years of contract. Next year if we don't go deep they are fired.

Let me just say there are alot of things I don't like about Fox and I do think Hurney has made mistakes. However letting them play out their contracts wouldn't be such a bad idea. For one I think Hurney is a good GM and cap master. He will find a way to resign the guys need and keep us under the cap. Obviously Delhomme was a desperation move that bit him in the ass but I think something will work out. As for Peppers who really knows, no one knows if he wants to be here or not. But we do know he is not worth 16 million or 20 million a season. I think Hurney will try to take what he can get for him or let him go if a new contract is not reached.

As for Fox. He's been figured out, if he stays next season he will have spice up his game plan or he will get fired mid season and may be out of HC opportunities. If there is a season to change Fox's philosophies about this game it is this one. The charisma and spark of this team has not melted down on him like this before. He will have to get back to being a hardass and letting the best players take the field. Loyalties and stubbornness will have to end. If he comes back I think things will change. The offense has been figured out it is not dynamic in the least bit, there are glaring problems at WR which were overly obvious all season because we didn't use the receiving options where we had the most talent (TE). And it didn't help that Delhomme often times does not see open receivers down field. The offense is going to have to utilize other attack philosophies other than the play action pass because:

1. Delhomme does not sell the fake at all, though I think Moore does a better job at it.

2. We run PA too much

3. As of this moment PA is totally dependent on 1 player being open (Steve Smith).

Basically Fox can't afford to stay the same if he comes back and at least Fox knows the team well enough to know its weaknesses and what we will need on draft day. Meeks will be back though I can't say the same for Davidson. He has been a good OC the past couple seasons but he could be a scape goat.

You are absolutely right in your assessment and advice to Fox but he has shown no signs in the past he will change and I have my doubts he will now.

If he does then maybe he is still a good coach.

If he tries to keep Jake as the starter then we suck again next year.

They are not thinking like a business owner.

6 mill you save to keep him. How much do you lose by keeping him? Losses in butts in the seats, concessions, merchandise....

more than 6 mill IMO.

absolutely. the franchise and fanbase has petered out. there isn't much enthusiasm surrounding this team and most of what is there is forced. it's gotten stale and old and, frankly, boring. boring gets you empty seats and less money.

the teams needs a new direction and a new personality. something dynamic that will get the players and the fans hyped up. someone that brings some energy. that just isn't fox.

the team has seemed to grow complacent over the years and a lot of that has to do with fox. they seem to be okay with just being better than awful. the bar has been set pretty low and the fans are wanting more. they don't really expect it with who we have and aside from a couple years they don't really have much reason to.

if the panthers want to get the fans pumped, the stands full, and the concessions/merch moving? put another product on the table. give the people something new that they can be excited about. change isn't always good but it can give you a lot of momentum. you just have to make sure there is something of substance there.

    • His physical attributes aren't going to change on a new team so I have no idea how he would pan out elsewhere but I can logically assume those issues he has had with processing which was supposed to be his key selling point before the draft would follow him. He was also supposed to be someone who thrives when the play breaks down but he has been inconsistent at best on that and at times horrific. I think where we each take a fork in the road on the determination of Bryce Young currently is you seem to still be treating him as a rookie and not a third year QB still repeating the same mistakes while showing that he has no arm talent to overcome even the slightest bit of adversity. I've said all along his rookie year and his sophomore season that I would be willing to overlook his interceptions if he was pushing the ball downfield consistently and even if he turned the ball over forcing a pass here and there to keep defenses honest I would accept it. But he has nothing. There is no deep passing game here. He threw the ball 55 times in Arizona which was 30 more times than Kyler Murray and only had a little over 100 more passing yards than him. Legitimately you should read that again and ponder it. That is embarrassingly atrocious. Circumstances here are not ideal with the WR's and OL but we cannot normalize this. It is horrendous. And we need to swallow our pride and begin scouting QB's for the 2026 draft. In the meantime this cannot continue on much longer for the sake of the locker room. And the upcoming schedule isn't going to get any better. If there is a silver lining to any of this we are going to find out just who Dave Canales really is throughout the rest of the season. He isn't getting a pass either.
    • I don't hate it but.....  eeeh it would take acquiring Kaprizov without giving up svech to make rod try Jarvis at 2C. Svechnikov/Aho/Kaprizov  Ehlers/Jarvis/Stankoven
    • Given the fact he declined buku bucks over on the HOF hockey board most don't think they will even get svech..... (not even canes fans) The $$$$ tag plus lack of leverage for Minny could end up seeing him dealt for somthing around what we got for Ranttanen....
