Who is the next Matt Schuab?

Tyler Thigpen.

Before a few weeks ago, I would have said Chad Henne, but I think he has finally made his way to the ranks of the NFL starters, and it's a position he won't abdicate soon.

And even though he's 30 now, and too old to ever have a good NFL career, I've always had a soft spot for Brian St. Pierre; the NFL's Moonlight Graham (7 years in the NFL: 1 game, 1 pass attemped, 0 completions). He always looks competitive in the pre-season, but has never gotten an opportunity to start, or even come in in relief.

Yeah that QB in Houston who has a 98.2 passer rating, 24 TDs, only 13 ints, nearly 4000 yards and a 68.5% completion percentage.

That guy.

Totally playing devil's advocate here, because I love Matt Schaub, but Andre Johnson could make Brooks Bollinger look like Drew Brees.

i'd like to find someone a bit more durable than schaub. i'm amazed he's played more than 10 games this year.

he's great when healthy but to this point he hasn't had much luck. i wouldn't be confident going into the playoffs with him at this point. not sure he could last.

Hasn't been the answer for Houston though.

They are a pass first team and that is a big reason for his stats.

I judge a QB by more than stats.....can he lead a team to victories.

I am not sold on Schaub as a great leader yet. Same with Cutler. All the tools...put up numbers in Denver...but has never been a winner.

I love Volek as a stop gap, but he is not a Schaub, in the fact that he is not the answer.

Look at someone else on that Chargers roster. Charlie Whitehurst. Not saying that he could get hot like Schaub has, but he does have the tools, he has sat for a few years, he has had the best QB coach in the game for 3 years, and he would be pretty cheap.

Again, not sure if it's all there up top for him, but he would be the best "gamble" in the league right now.

And Jake Delhomme could make Andre Johnson look like DHB

Hey, now! I didn't want this thread to turn into an indictment of my man, DHB. I am a blind Maryland homer, yes I readily admit. However, I will reserve judgement on his bust status until I see Bruce Gradkowski throwing to him. Jamarcus, I believe, was a large part of his struggles. If however, Gradkowski throws DHB some perfect spirals between the numbers 1 and 2, and they bounce off his chest, I will admit I was wrong (or more realistically I will claim that he will do better next year; he just is struggling adjusting to the pro level, and other dodges to avoid the pink elephant in the room).

They used to say the same things about Steve Smith. Just goes to show you how reciprocal the QB/WR relationship is. Hell just look at how bad David Carr was with Andre Johnson.

You dont just do this by mistake. Someone wanting a new QB and judging him on playoff wins is laughable at best. If you want a young QB that isn't a starter, of course they wont have any playoff wins.

Not to mention playoff wins is not necessarily a good judge of a QB. Just look at Feeley.
