Kevin Kolb, however, looks to have what it takes to be a quality starter in the league.

I might throw out Billy Volek's name into the mix. I know I'll be flamed for this, but I wouldn't be surprised if Tyler Thigpen, and how about one of Schaub's backup -- Dan Orlovsky?

Volek would be a great starter for a couple years while we groom a Young QB.

Stewart for Volek and the Bolts 2nd rounder.

Use our 2 2nds then to trade up if the right QB is there or get a QB/WR combo in the second.

I was a big fan of getting Volek back in '07 when Jake went down, but the Panthers signed Vinny T. instead. And I would still be happy if the Panthers got him after seeing him help to upset the Colts at Indy in the playoffs two years ago after Phillip Rivers got hurt for most of the second half. And he did it without LT to boot.

Volek has been good for a long time. He is not a young QB though. I think is like 31.

Troy Smith has looked good when he has played.

Why didn't we try to get Brohm when he was free?

He's had the benefit of a lot of quality time with Cam Cameron and Norv Turner as well. What he did that playoff game was the shiz.
