If Delhomme Starts Sunday....

I just can't take any talk seriously that states that Jake doesn't have a bonafide injury. There's no way that Fox would sit him down if he weren't hurt. I'm not defending Jake, I think he should have been sat down long before the injury. But I don't accept that he or anyone else within the organization is part of a phony situation. I don't browse the Charlotte area papers everyday, but I can't find anything anywhere assserting a fake injury, except an early November article from some clown involved in Fantasy Football saying Jake had faked an injury in the Arizona game (which we won, by the way!). I think it's all crap!

No, what it comes down to is a couple of things:

1. Moore has shown us that he can be... errr... well... lackluster at best. One touchdown in two games just isn't going to cut it. No zip, no fire, no leadership, no ability to pick the team up in a winnable situation. Doesn't screw up as badly as Jake had been, by a long shot, but he just doesn't give us any chance of winning. That is unless our defense can outscore the opponent's offense.

2. The question of whether Jake is really done, washed up, irreparably broken or not. I still contend that what's wrong with him is a case of the yips. For quarterbacks and pitchers this can be fatal to a career, some never recover, no matter what. Most times, however, they never get the chance to work through it and wash out as a result. Now and then, however, the yipper can get it out of their system and come back as strong as before or even better.

Me, I'd like to see Jake come back for a number of reasons. But in dealing with this next game, I have to say that he gives us our only chance to win from the QB position. The biggest chance is that he will fall on his face, but there is a small chance he'll have a great game and prove everyone wrong. With Moore, I just don't see any chance of a miracle.

And AJ Feeley? If he hasn't made it to the field in a season this bad yet... then he must suck in ways that even Electrolux hasn't figured out yet.

I realize Moore hasn't shown much but I had rather watch him on Sundays at least Smith will get a chance at a decent long ball.

Seeing Jake as the laughing stock of the NFL has gotten really old. Let Moore play and open it up. If he stinks these last few games then we let him walk.

If Jake's finger is well enough to play after only 2 games then it was never hurt.

It will be interesting.

Can you really say that Moore can beat Minnesota? I can't.

If he gets the start, I sure will be cheering for him, though. I'd love to be proved wrong. I'd love to find out that we have the quarterback of the future already on the payroll.

But, as it stands now, I just don't see that fire, that drive, that spark, that you need to see in a starting QB, win or lose.

Can this thread get locked? Ak and panthers55 would take it anywhere from Jake. It is rather disturbing.

If you are all knowing, which you clearly aren't, you would know I don't care who is starting this week. I expect it will be Moore and I will be at the game cheering for him as usual. My issue with Moore is that he doesn't play to win. He has thrown exactly one ball deep in each of the past 2 games. And it worked both times. Why isn't he doing it more often? The only thing I can figure is he is afraid it will get picked so he is afraid to unleash his arm. Well for me I wiould rather go out in flames with a guy who will try and win the game then someone who plays it too conservative and doesn't give us a chance to win.

Funny how the same guys lambasting Fox and Davidson for being too conservative are supporting a quarterback who is doing the same thing.

The only explanation here is that people are looking back to previous seasons with fond memories and just in denial about how god awful Jake has been for the entire season this year. Thats the only thing I can figure.

I just want a guy who can actual win by putting up points and a legitimate passing game. If that is Moore then lets see it. Throw the ball down the field more than just 1 time a game. Go for the guy 15 yards down the field instead of 10 yards behind the first down marker. Lets do better than 3-13 on third downs especially when 2 of the 3 were on 1 drive making him 1 for 11 the rest of the day. I am fine with Moore actually if he can and will try to win the game. If not then give me Jake. At least he goes for it and tries to win it instead of playing it safe and assuring too little too late. if we were playing Buffalo and another poor team then Moore is fine. But against our remaining opponents we need a passing offense which Moore hasn't shown.

That is pretty simple to me. Turn him loose or have him step aside for someone who will.

In the end I guess you guys are okay with a respectable loss since you are afraid Jake will embarrass you. For me a loss is a loss no matter by how much.

Some of you guys really want to ruin Delhomme's legacy and career even more!? Delhomme is not going to play great against the Vikings...that game has the making of 3 picks at least. Vikings has the offense to put up points fast and the D-line to pressure Delhomme all day. Delhomme hasn't played good against the Vikings in a long time. Now, he's even WORSE than before. Delhomme falling flat on his face during national television will definitely put him near David Carr status. Let the man bow out with what little dignity he has...

I agree with panthers55 assessment that Matt Moore plays "conservative". I think the major problem is that he is just too scared to make a mistake. This kid is finally getting his chance and he has a coach that has little to no confidence in him and is in love with a QB that is turnover prone. I think he feels like if he makes few mistakes...he's won half the battle. Fox needs to get off Delhomme's jock and at least support the kid. He needs a confidence boost.

There you go again with the misinformation and incorrect analysis. Jake has had 5 games where he has completed over 60% of his passes and 2 games with a passer rating over 90. Quick tell me who has had the top 3 passer rating performances this year by a Panther quarterback? Yeah Jake. I guess you don't think that jake was good in his 115 passer rating against Antlanta at home or at Arizona on the road (94.3).

Again, you are incorrect. That wasn't good Jake vs. AZ. That was a run game and defense that won the game. Jake hit one pass to a wide open Steve Smith. Same performance you knock Matt Moore for.....yet games like that make Jake "good Jake".

Jake played decent vs. Atlanta. Medicore Jake. Good/Bad Jake is dead. Horrible/1 decent game every 6 Jake is alive.
