Buying a new TV

refreshes the entire screen twice as often, i meant. I figured someone would call out my imprecise language there. It takes 2 refreshes on an interlaced to do the job that 1 refresh on a progressive does.

I notice a big difference between 1080i and 720p on my TV. 1080i is sharper. But that's probably because my screen is 1080i native.

Don't over pay for silly marketing crap.

1080p is the new standard, but 720p is just great as well. Depending on your seating distance and the size of your TV, 720p might be just fine. Over distance of a certain size, you'll lose the benefits in resolution of that 1080p TV. The HDguru has a great chart to determine that.

Don't buy any of this 120, 240, 600hz nonsense. Play with it in a store, but the anti-flicker/judder stuff just makes great 24hz movies look like a soap opera. /vomit!

Make sure your purchase has a good warranty. as well. Most basic 1 year warranties will be good enough...

meh, as I say this, I keep thinking back to the HDguru, so here's his website. You can learn a lot about what you buy:

http://hdguru.com/

Enjoy and happy TV hunting!
