Belichick Does His Homework On Moore

If nothing else, Moore impressed New England coach Bill Belichick, who noted Moore's constantly changing locales (UCLA, Oregon State, Dallas, Carolina in a short span) and his natural gifts.

“Good player, got a real good arm, thought he made some very accurate throws, both in the short, intermediate range and down the field,” Belichick said. “Got good zip on the ball. Athletic guy, they can move him around. They ran him on some bootlegs and he scrambled out of the pocket a few times to buy a little extra time. I thought he handled himself well, and bottom line for the quarterback for me is the win-loss record. He's played and he's won, and he's done what he needs to do to have his team in the winner's circle the end of the game, and that's what really counts in my book.

“So give him a lot of credit for the way he's played. Certainly, he's a guy who's earned everything he's got in terms of his athletic career and particularly in football. He's had to overcome a lot of adversity, in changing teams and schools and everything else. He's had an opportunity to play, and he's played well and I really admire that.”

Hmmm....

flattery...

remember when Gruden said last year that our defense was "scary" or something like that and then we come out and lose 27-3.

What's he gonna say? Moore sucks and we have no respect for him?

Actually, I do think Belichick is sincere, but honestly, you substitute any young QBs name in there, and it rings just as true...

blanket statement...we cetainly know a lot about that from Foxy, although I certainly would prefer a coach who knows what NOT to say to one that spouts off...

i think he honestly saw those good things about him. i don't doubt that belichick watched every bit of tape he could get on him to prepare for the game. that's what he does for every opponent.

still....i won't read too much into it. unless you are rex ryan, coaches will say good things about their opponents and players when they are asked.

Honestly the only thing that I like more about Matt Moore than Jake Delhomme is that he looks athletic when he throws the ball and his arm is stronger. Other than that...ehh. Pretty sure that if you asked Belichick he would say the same thing. As far as QB IQ...I'd say that they are both below average.

Bellichick is covering his bases for when Moore makes the Pats look bad Sunday. Not because I think Moore is that good but NE pass D is horrible.

Also, more than anything, he is subconsiencely (?) stroking his own ego in advance. If NE wins on Sunday Bellichick looks a lot better beating a team he talked up instead of beating a team he trashed. All coaches do this and the main reason is to make themselves look/feel better when/if they win or to make themselves not look as bad when/if they lose.
