Panthers plan for Moore

The final four games for the Carolina Panthers might all feature Matt Moore under center, according to the feeling one gets from reading the story today by Charles Chandler of the Charlotte Observer. But in addition to developing his own skills as an NFL QB, Moore is likely auditioning for a role on next year's squad as well.

While Jake Delhomme (the $42.5 million man) is still missing practice owing to a broken finger that prevents him from gripping a football, Moore is playing out a $460,000 contract in preparation for restricted free agency. Several things could happen here if Moore plays well in this last quartet of contests. Amongst those outcomes, the Panthers could ink him to a new deal and mold him as the QB of the future in the post-Delhomme era or they could let him get a new contract elsewhere and receive compensatory draft picks in exchange. The team lacks a first-rounder in 2010 thanks to a trade this past April, so any extra picks they can get would be helpful.

Either way, the Panthers are really hoping that Moore turns out to be starter-worthy. Otherwise, they'll be stuck with two bad QBs going forward.

Honestly if Moore turns out to be really good then why the hell would you let him walk for draft picks? The only real reason we would want a 1st is to give us a better chance at drafting a QB. So if Moore is the real thing you resign him to a new deal and save us a hell of alot of bullshit on draft day.

"Alright we seemed to have found a QB for the future...."

"Great, then maybe San Fran can give us a 1st AND 3rd for him"

I can promise you Moore is no franchise QB. He is better then Jake and maybe even a starter in this league but I can promise you he is a QB you always are looking to upgrade. If someone offers us a 1st we better ****** there damn hand off.

I like Moore but there's no way he's going to get a first from anyone. The writer of that article wasn't implying that he could be traded for a first, just that we would receive compensatory picks (lower round picks) if we let him go.

Either way, Moore is a guy I want to keep in Charlotte.

So if Moore is awesome we get a first so we can trade him to get a qb in the first that hasent proved anything and pay him millions more?

Actually no. I want no part of any QB before round 4 in this years draft (Skelton). This discussion is pointless anyway no team will pick him up at a cost of a 1st.

chill bro :chillpill: . u do realize all of us are just making a point right? the actual value of the trade doesn't matter in this case. we're just saying Moore is gunna turn out to be decent JUST so we can get trade value for him to try to get another QB. John Fox thinking right there
