i don't think the illusive man is the shadow broker. in the comics, the shadow broker already has shepard's body and intends to give it to the collectors. then the illusive man contacts liara and gets her to steal the body from the broker and give it to cerberus. none of that makes sense if the illusive man is the shadow broker.

after ME1 i had a theory that it was the consort. she has access to all of the higher-ups on the citadel, after all. but me2 did nothing to confirm it. the only mention of her i found was news saying that she was considering leaving the citadel (perhaps due to pressure from liara on her trail?)

the comics suck, but they're just like a 5 minute read if you want the info. the whole first issue could've been summarized as "liara goes to omega, sees miranda" but they managed to have those 2 simple actions fill a whole mag.

also a batarian yells "she's using biotics!" when she attacks them.

In regards to the suicide mission...is it pretty much random as far as who lives and dies? I know having loyalty on the characters going into the vents, biotic bubble, etc greatly helps. Anyways, I had sent Legion to the vents and was ok, but lost him after the "bubble" segment. Loyal to boot and dies.

Everyone else made it, even had a non loyal Samara do the bubble and she lived. Guess I'll have to try and do it again on my insanity playthrough.

If someone isn't loyal, it doesn't necessarily mean they will be the one to die. It means that there is a weak link, but they may end up getting someone else killed instead. You don't just need the loyalty of the people with mission assignments; you need it for everyone to ensure nobody dies.

the only way to guarantee that nobody dies is to have 100% loyalty, the 3 ship upgrades, and proper assignments. i've done 3 playthroughs with full survival. the only way to have someone die after you figure out the formula is to do it intentionally.

i wish i could send Jacob out an airlock. does that guy have any purpose at all except bitching over every single person you recruit? doesn't trust thane, doesn't trust jack, wants to airlock legion, doesn't want to open grunt's tank, makes some mean comment to tali.

not to mention he volunteers for a job he can't do in the suicide mission.

on my next playthrough i'm going to get him so killed.
