Belichik says Peppers "one of the best players in the league."

Maybe this will inspire Peppers to play well. It's kind of funny to think he improves his chances of going to New England by pressuring Brady and putting him on the ground.

I was just going to write that. I bet Pep actually shows up this week to show off for his dream team.

Then again, haven't we already played two of the four mystery teams Peppers wanted to go to in Philadelphia and Dallas? In the latter game, Peppers was a non-factor.

Who knows what to expect from that guy anymore? I hope he has a good game, but to be honest I'm more excited to see Charles Johnson back (assuming he does play).

If it comes down to us having to franchise him again, then I totally agree with shipping him - there's no sense in paying a guy 20 mil to play for one season.

If we can get him under contract for a reasonable amount then I say we keep him, he's the only consistent pass rush threat we've got right now.

:iagree: plus who even knows if Pep wants to join the Pats.... I mean right now there a group full of underachievers that might not make it to the playoffs.

Just like Adalius Thomas did.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.

We could always Franchise him again and ship him...not like its going to hurt us capwise THIS year

We better only franchise him if we are sure we can trade him. Otherwise, save the cap room. No one player (unless you are Peyton Manning quality) is worth 20 million dollars. That is just ridiculous for a defensive player.

Sometimes I wish we knew what went or was going on behind the scenes last offseason...... did Peps agent even try to work a deal out with NE? What was going on when Belichik came out and told Pep to sign the tender?

Regarding this offseason, I would love for the Panthers to be able to Tag and Trade Peps - the problem is the guy probably wont sign the tender again and we will have a repeat of last offseason.

If this organization, or league that is Patriot happy, had any balls, they would have charged Belicheat with a violation.

The thing is we have all the power this off-season if there is indeed no CBA signed. If we wanted to tag him we are not obligated to pay him till he signs and since there is no cap we wouldn't have that 20 million dollar cap hit to work around in FA. So if he doesn't sign we just keep waiting. Unless I am missing something. Of course if he does sign it JR still owes him 20 mill regardless of whether or not there is a cap, the ? is he worth that much to him unless Fox is here? Doubt it. Who knows what is going to happen with him? Its too early to call. We didn't know for sure what would happen this year until the trade deadline passed (always the threat he could be shipped, I was hoping they would).

I dont know man... the whole Peppers thing pisses me off and that is why I havent worn his jersey all season and wont again. For all the yapping he did last season, then doesnt sign the tender to even make it easier or allow the team to trade him. Then we have no idea if Hurney/Fox would have even traded him anyway; but I was not in favor of just letting him walk. (I did think and posted on this board 3-4yrs ago they should have traded him and the whole franchise tag thing would have been irrelevant).

I dont think this franchise has much leverage with or without a CBA. You think JR is going to possibly pay Peppers $20million, Jake who is hopefully our backup $10million, then Fox who is hopefully fired $10million ?? There is no way. So sadly the easiest thing to do is jut let Pep walk - which is ultimately another Hurney/Fox mistake or hope some kind of another scenario happens that might put them in a favorable position to trade him. I just dont see it. Bottom line is Jerry is gonna have to shell out some cash to get this franchise turned around for next season.

No way we let Peppers walk. He will sign longterm or we will franchise him. We don't have to worry about a cap and 20 million seems like a ton but honestly we were going to pay him 80 million for 6 years. So in 2009 and 2010 we will have paid him 37 millions for 2 years, have saved the other 43 million and dump him as he turns 32 after we have gotten his best years. Or we trade him and get a first and perhaps a third for him.
