Anyone have a Droid ?

I came over here to make a topic about it. I haven't used mine yet as it's charging. My phone got destroyed right before my 21st birthday.

Orignally I wanted an $80 blackberry, but Verizon made the $30 data fee mandatory so it didn't make any sense to buy a phone that couldn't take advantage. So I suggested the Droid: Eris for $100, but my parents didn't want me getting the "baby" Droid as they felt like it wasn't worth it.

I've never felt so spoiled in my life, they MADE me get the more expensive one. They let me pay for the accessories at least so I don't feel like a total bum.

What kind of cases does everyone have? I don't have time to get one tonight.

I read your post and called my dad and asked him to by me a droid... first he said, "what's a droid," then he said, "do you not have a job?"

You HAVE to get the AK47 and SchottGunn apps! Endless fun, and it's fun to look someone in the eyes when they have said something stupid, have a blank face, and start shooting them virtually with your phone...

I also got a Solitaire app that's nice, Pandora, and a Football one...

Also, I got some R2D2 beeps to use for notifications and made my own R2 wallpaper...

Sick phone... The battery won't last a full day as much as I play with it... Already had to charge it twice today, but that could be because I was trying to watch porn on it earlier... (didn't work) ;)

Dont let it change you, seen a few people become douches form this item.

lol I was an ultimate douche with mine. I went to my cuz's gaduation at NC state, I wanted some earbuds so I stopped by radio shack, all they had were UNC earbuds. So I douche-ily listened to pandora radio during her ceremony hah.

It's hard right now to use the phone because when people ask about it. I want to show them the cool things on it without appearing that I'm bragging.

3gs is so much better and people arguing otherwise are funny

i like the apps for the iphone and it seems a little smoother and simpler to use. But i compared the droid with a girls 3gs last night and it was faster on the web by 2-3 seconds. Sometimes more. Especially youtube. Also i synched my phone up to a bluetooth speaker and you could BARELY hear it. The iphone was way better.

So the iphone is prettier, easier to use, blows the droid out of the water as far as apps go, and better for music (video is the same). And the droid packs more power under the hood, is clumsier in use but much more pc like(which suits me well), a much better web browser, and has a much better camera that your not screwed with if you need to use it. The droid has WAY better navigation as well. The droid is fugly.

Also the droid doesn't play flash video yet, it says it won't till early 2010.

So i think the iphone is better overall but i still prefer my droid because I don't need it for music, and i like having the beefier innards and better network, and navigation.

If you're comparing hardware, the 3GS wins by a small margin. If you're comparing OS's, Android destroys the iPhone OS. There is so much more potential and freedom in Android. The hardware is what makes the iPhone.

I have a feeling this is going to turn into the Windows/OSx of the smart phone world.

The iphone is kind of hands down the best smart phone by the "industry" people. I don't own one, don't want AT&T's network, and I've been a life long Verizon Wireless customer. I like the iphone as a toy, but its on the wrong network. I'd get an ipod touch if I really wanted the apps of the iphone.

I live and breathe google though...sad as that is...I know... So I'm all about the droid as soon as May rolls around (or I find a job where I'm not apt to destroy touch screen phones...)

With my friends who have droids, I haven't heard either of them complain about the limitations of the device.

Absolutely. It should be good for consumers. At least both Google and Apple can produce a quality product, and it should push innovation forward.

The biggest concern for Google is that Apple's OS is on some really great, quality controlled hardware (much like their computers). Google is not going to be able to rely on Motorola and other companies' hardware if it wishes to keep up.
