NFL's biggest rip offs - Jake and Pep are #1

Pathetic contract extension made by Hurney and crew. Everyone in their right mind knew that game against the Cards in the playoffs wasn't a fluke. There's a reason why so many people wanted to see Delhomme get replaced before it got this bad.

This.

Article was right on the money. They need to let Peppers go, or attempt to sign him long term. I wish we could do something with Delhomme, but his contract will haunt the organization for a few years.

funny how the article mentions the contracts will hurt the team for years to come. really? peppers contract ends this year and delhomme's really isn't that bad, especially going into an uncapped year.

also not having signed delhomme wouldn't have magically made a capable NFL QB appear from thin air. we don't have a draft pick and even before we signed delhomme didn't have the cap space for a top 10 QB

Damn man it seems like you get it. I mean really get it. Everyone acts like they knew that Jake would emplode and would have another Ari type game which even though he did you cant predict that that will happen. And who was left to sign? Vick, Even though I would have took him cause I like football more than dogs nobody else wanted him and wasn't a lot of options left. So in hindsight it was stupid but what isn't after it goes wrong?

I don't agree with either.

Offense- JaMarcus Russell is a no brainer.

Defense- while inconsistent there are worse out there. Peppers still has to be game planned for and is one of the very few DE's that is very good against the run.

Do either of them play up to their respective contracts? No, but so say they're the biggest rip offs in the league is pretty stupid.

Peppers is making more money this season than any other player in the league. Yes, that includes Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, etc. What a great investment.

His contract is nearly half of the Florida Marlins payroll for 2009.

He also made more than Mariano Rivera, Albert Pujols, AJ Burnett, CC Sabathia, both Cy Young award winners, Ryan Howard, LeBron James, Kevin Garnett, Dwyane Wade, Dwight Howard, every player in the NHL, every driver in NASCAR, and the combined winnings in 2009 for Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.

All this money is going to a guy that's 10th in the league in sacks. Marty Hurney is surely a wise man.

Haynesworth's 2009 salary is $6 million base pay with a $5 million signing bonus. That's $5 million less than Peppers.

That bonus is also spread over the length of the contract, no?

EDIT: A quick search shows the $100 million dollar figure is as accurate as Delhomme's $42 million dollar number:

League sources told ESPN's Chris Mortensen that a $29 million "poison pill" in the fifth year of Haynesworth's contract effectively makes it a four-year deal worth $48 million. The Redskins would owe Haynesworth a lump sum of $29 million in salary and bonuses in 2013, the fifth year of the deal. It is unlikely the team will pay the full commitment of $100 million over seven years unless the contract is re-negotiated. Haynesworth will receive $41 million in guaranteed money.
