Did we get hoodwinked on Miles Sanders

How can you decide if we overpaid until you see the production on the field?  All you can say is we paid more than some others teams did for their running back. We saw Sanders as both a running back and receiver out of the backfield. Is 7 million a lot to pay a great running back who is also a good receiver?? I think the answer will depend on how he plays this year especially as a receiver. From what Reich did in Indy would suggest Sanders will get a ton of carries and earn all 7 million.

There is no way to tell until he starts putting up numbers for us. Having said that, there is no way in hell I would bring in a high priced free agent RB in today's NFL. That money goes elsewhere, for instance in the passing game. Our blueprint is not what I would chose to win in today's NFL, but it's not my problem. Fitt has a plan and if it doesn't work he'll be out of a job, and our Sunday's will suck for 4 hours.

So $7MM a year is high priced now?   Lmao

Looks like we got a pretty fair deal.  Some people here just look for reasons to be miserable.  These are guaranteed earnings for the life of the contract. We got rid of a very expensive and risky CMC and got a top 10 running back that can run and catch at much lower risk.

Swift’s best year was as good as Hubbard last year. Let that sink in.

Swift's biggest problem was the fact whe wouldn't play if he had any sort of injury. Second biggest problem was running out of bounds instead of fighting for those extra yards.

Duce got fed up, and now Swift is looking for work. A talented kid who should have picked a safer sport. Maybe Badminton would have been a better choice.

I wouldn’t agree with the term hoodwinked but we for sure look odd for locking in Sanders for 4 years after his first season hitting 1k yards in Philly on a team with a true #1 WR and good TE, plus good WR2 and 3 on the team, plus a good offensive line with an MVP level QB performance.

What makes Miles Sander worth the sign? The guy we had averaged 4.5 yards per carry and Sanders is coming in at 4.9. Foreman’s averages went UP with an increased workload. Sanders averages went DOWN.

Foreman is just a 3 million dollar commitment. He is 27. Sanders is 26.

We have a history of spending at this position where it would make other teams scratch their heads when we paid DWill and JStew at the same time, then we got out of those and decided to pony up and pay CMC and now we locked in Sanders to a four year deal when the league is trending towards drafting RBs in rounds 2-5 and getting major production and letting them walk away after their rookie contract to go to another team.

In my opinion, we would be better off just drafting running backs in a 2-5 every 2-3 years and rolling with them unless we get somebody “generational”.

Miles Sanders had 3 100-yard games last year. He had 7 games under 50 yards of rushing last year.

Foreman had 5 100 yard rushing games and he basically didn’t play until week 7.

From week 7 to 17 Foreman averaged 80 rushing yards per game. Sanders averaged 75 rushing yards per game.

Sanders averaged 75.7 during his first 10 games. He averaged 66 yards a game rushing during his second half of 10 games.

We could have kept the guy we had, saved money, not had a RB locked in even at 6 million a year for the next four years which would have given Bryce a vet in year 1 and then we would have nothing big financially tied to a RB on a second contract and been smart.

It isn’t a BAD signing by any means and fingers crossed he elevates his game a bit to help the young kid out at QB I can just understand where the argument comes from in relation to what other RBs got this offseason in comparison.

Yeah we overpaid but we knew we needed a top talent at RB to help our rookie franchise QB, and ones who have Sanders combination of explosive running and catch ability is hard to find. We did overpay but the help he brings to Bryce will be money well spent…..we hope. He’s in his prime and just got close to 1300 yards rushing last year.

Don’t forget we are a pathetic franchise. 5 years average of <6 wins? In a no sports city with few attractions to the general player demographic…

It’s like when you can work at Target but General Dollar be callin. You’re not going without $.

You need to remember Philly also has a QB that contributes quite a bit to the run game.  Bryce is not going to ba a runner.

Also, for some reason, whatever reason, when Jalen Hurts became the starter in Philly in 2020, they stopped throwing the ball to their backs.

Having a reliable pass catcher out of the backfield is going to be crucial for BY.  If teams sell out on the pass rush a dump off to Sanders will make them pay.

With the contracts that Hurney gave to running backs over the years, it seems a bit odd to complain about this one.  We have a proven multifaceted vet for our rookie QB at a price that does not hurt the team.

Oh yeah, his and McCaffrey's contracts are damn near identical 😄

Well not until we need him too. I expect him to run with the frequency of Mahomes, Rodgers(Prime) or Big Ben(Prime).
They rarely run but when they do it is usually big pick up.

If that happens, every Panther fan and every coach will hold their breath while screaming GET OUT OF BOUNDS!!  That would be much too stressful on us...lol.

But..for certain he will not be taking carries/yards away from Sanders like Hurts did.

Hey, this guy can catch like a WR, block the bliz well, we can hand it off the get tough yards and hand it to him to keep the D guessing. He can really help my team but let's under pay him "cuz he a RB"

Not all RB should get top $ but to under pay a guy that can do it all is dumb. But lets give even ok QB 20+ a year

If all we wanted was a guy who could run the ball we would have stuck with Foreman.  But we wanted a receiver too. Sanders caught 20 passes albeit for only 78 yards but that was his lowest total. He had 500 yards receving his first year with the Eagles. He will be a bigger part of this offense than Foreman would have been and is being paid accordingly.  For this scheme Sanders is a great fit.
