Did we get hoodwinked on Miles Sanders

I am glad we didn’t lowball him. He is being paid fairly and will validate his contract. How hard do you think a $2M running back will play making less than a kicker. It’s a shame what the NFL has done to the RB position

Did y’all want to go intro the season with Hubbard as RB1?

Look at their average YPC.  Just saying. Also look at the average YPR

Chuba didn't have have the production, but he also didn't have the touches. He's quietly productive though.

Sanders was the highest paid FA RB this year.

He was also the best FA RB this year, still young and primed for success

There is no way to tell until he starts putting up numbers for us. Having said that, there is no way in hell I would bring in a high priced free agent RB in today's NFL. That money goes elsewhere, for instance in the passing game. Our blueprint is not what I would chose to win in today's NFL, but it's not my problem. Fitt has a plan and if it doesn't work he'll be out of a job, and our Sunday's will suck for 4 hours.

Sanders is the only one of those RBs that is a threat to a defense to run, pass block, or catch passes out of the backfield with any kind of reliable success. None of those other RBs offer their OC or QB the ability to open up a portion of the playbook vital of you’re going up against a top defense.

Quality over quantity. Those 5 backs on that eagles graphic are absolute meh. Swift wasn’t even relevant or playing down the stretch last year. The Lions couldn’t wait to move on from him.

Agreed.  And Penny is always hurt.  He’s started 11 games in 5 seasons.  Gainwell is still on his rookie deal, and is probably their best RB on the roster.  Sanders was 100% worth the modest contract we gave him.

We over paid.

Highest paid total contract but only getting $2.5M this season which would make him the 26th highest paid RB.

Next year jumps to $7.65M which will make him the 7th highest paid. It goes up to a little over $8M the year after, but at that point the contract allows the team to cut him and save over $5M with ~$2.9M dead cap.

The Giants, Raiders, and Cowboys are all paying for a RB to be on the franchise tag for one season what the Panthers are paying to keep Sanders for two. The Bengals are paying Joe Mixon $8M this season and have a similar out to Sanders third year but in year 2. Given the comparisons across the league, i'm happy with the way Suleiman structured the deal.

why would you get out from under that CMC contract just to go back to a similar one for a way LESS talented player

Math isn't really your thing, is it?
