Mods, can we combine all these into one "Hornets Crime Thread" discussion?

That way you can get Miles, Miller, Bouknight and whichever player gets booked next. Maybe Hugo can wear an orange jumpsuit this season. He looked stoked about the Miller pick last night.

Miles is a shithead, but I think Miller's situation is way different.  No charges filed and he has been identified as a "cooperative witness" by the police.  Was he being dumb/ignorant hanging with those specific teammates? Definitely, but you have to do a lot of assuming to make him a criminal.

LOL Mack and Bone literally just said that in order to interview Miller the hornets had them to agree to not ask any questions about the incident.

fuging cowards.  Is this really how its going to be?  fuging weak, yeah hornets shield the baby and see how that works out.  Be a man like Kerry Collins did with his incident/problems and address it, field questions and be done with it.

He wasnt charged because the cops said it would be damn near impossible for them to prove intent.

The case is irrelevant to me. I can see why people would be skeptical. My issue is we drafted him for a perceived fit and objectively did not go BPA.

That's fair.  The consensus rankings had Miller at 2 and Scoot at 3, but everyone is entitled to their opinion and the case for Scoot being the better talent can definitely be argued.

Yet here we are trying to assume/prove it.  It was released no charges would be filed against him pretty quickly.  His story passed pretty easily so why are we doubting it so much?

The Hornets are major offenders (pun intended) of the NBA's biggest problem: the players run the league and set the rules.

Haven't been this uninterested in what they do since I was like 4. Between no defense, players running the league, a star player going on a serial killing spree could make him sit for as many as 14 games, shooting 70 3s a game and the Charlotte Hornets reimagining themselves as the Trade Street Bloods, there's not much to keep me invested.

I appreciate your optimism and wish I could partake as well. I find that draft choice indefensible.

Because his story doesn't pass the smell test.   And it's not surprising that the Tuscaloosa PD did very little to investigate the star of the university during a special season.

Even at that level it still shows that he is making extremely poor decisions or is a complete moron or perhaps both.  All things considered the hornets (MJ) were completely tone deaf given this team and cities history with out of control athletes.  And the fan reaction last night is exhibit A that I am 100% right.  Watching mitchs PC its clear as day that jordan overrode everyone and made the pick.  Maybe he works but the overriding point is MJ is a complete buffoon and a horrible horrible owner.  Perhaps the worst in all of sports history and for some reason he was allowed to make this pick.

Ive been checked out since the zeller pick.  Thats when I knew without a shadow of a doubt that MJ and co were complete idiots.  Hopefully this new regime will turn things around but last night was just unacceptable as a fan.  Complete and total horseshit

First thing any lawyer will tell you regardless of guilt is to say as little as possible so you don't incriminate yourself. Literally basic legal procedure.

I have the bar set HILARIOUSLY low for this franchise, and they still don't come close to reaching it. Most any pro sports team in North America could meet these objectives while still tanking 2 out of every 3 years:

1) Draft BPA unless you're a perennial title contender (lol)
2) Do not draft/sign murderers/accomplices/wife-beaters/scrappy UNC sixth men who wouldn't get a contract elsewhere
3) Invest more than $30 in your coaching staff and hire people whose philosophies aren't linked to Hank Iba
4) Make the playoffs once every 3 years
