LeBrun - Canes Will Trade Pesce If Extension Can’t Be Reached

So just for consolidation purposes.

- Burns is on the second to last year of a 8YR/$64M contract.

- The AAV is $8M and the cap hit for each year is $8M.

- The real money Burns is owed this year due to the structure of the contract is $5M. $3.35M will be coming from the Canes and $1.65M is coming from the Sharks

- When negotiating with other free agents real money is not used as a negotiating factor because each contract is structured differently. AAV is used because it accounts for the average of the whole contract.

- Even though Burns’ real money is low, his AAV is $8M. Pesce will be somewhere in the AAV of $5M to $6.25M if he’s resigned.

Recent article up by LeBrun said the Canes and Pesce are still working on an extension and it’s looking like it’ll get done.
