Don't expect ‘The Chin' to patrol the sidelines in Charlotte anytime soon

I am starting to really like the 4-3 because think about how cheaply solid 4-3 talent can be had with all these teams switching to the 3-4. I mean DE that were awesome that can't make the transition to OLB. DT that can't make it as NT in 3-4 but are perfect for the 1 technique or 3-4 DE that are better at the 3 tech. Now is the time to be in a 4-3 base defense IMHO.

This is singularly the most important benefit of running the 4-3 right now. There is TONS of talent that will get cast aside as they do not operate in the 3-4.

Drafting will suddenly get a heck of a lot easier.

Regarding Cowher, no thanks. The fact that he has not been that eager to get back into coaching suggests he would never be a long term option and would be at a team for two to three years tops. He wants a legit contender, so that he can win straight away.

I thought you wanted Cowher?
i think he was just saying that cowher deserved more respect than some in here want to give him, saying that he wasn't responsible for getting a ring and making the steelers so good for so long. funny, many of the same people were also saying that he was overrated because it took so long for him to get a ring.

anyway, i never took it as zod wanting cowher here, just that he wasn't the garbage many were saying he was.

I hope whoever we hire.Keeps meeks.
yeah, the offense could stand to have some tinkering but i'd feel bad about having the defense learn a third new scheme in 3 years. i'd like to see what this defense could do given another year and healthier players.

i won't cry if the new guy comes in and redoes everything, though...especially if it works.

I know its not popular here. But I like the getting pressure from the front 4.People like the blitz. But seeing what meeks has done with a beat up defense makes me want to keep him to see what he can do with one full strength and with more players that fit his system.

I don't know why people keep saying that Cowher means an instant change to the 3-4. I forget which reporter that had talked to sources close to Cowher it was that was on WFNZ the other day saying that Bill Cowher wouldn't necessarily go with the 3-4 in his next coaching job.

Also, Dan Morgan said on WFNZ this week that Bill Cowher is a better coach than John Fox. That's coming from a former Fox player.

still my vote....jim harbaugh. there are some other very good candidates out there that i would feel good about.

You'll like this story.

PFT: John Harbaugh can't control his brother on the sideline

"We've got to get Coach Harbaugh under control, but it's the other one, right?" John Harbaugh said. "One time, I turned around when we were having the debate with the two-minute time management situation out there that the officials handled a certain way. I look back and there's Jim there screaming at an official. I was like, 'You can't be out here. Back up.' Have we heard from the league on that one yet? We expect to hear from the league."

Of course, if we get Zimmer, maybe next year's "Hard Knocks" can be at Panthers camp. Zimmer got a lot of notoriety from this past season's stint with the Bengals.
