He is going to get a top edge salary because we decided to keep him instead of trading him. Now we have to pay whatever he is asking.

Burns has 38 sacks since entering the league, good for 11th. He is also not good against the run.

So lets recap, he is not among the best of the best at rushing the passer and he is a liability in the run game, yet he has earned top dollar? Something isnt adding up.

The top guys Watt (57.5) and Garrett (54) have dwarfed his numbers in less games played.

Nice spin job. C'mon man.

Simple question. Is there any player on the team that you like?

I swear you always talking negative about everyone.smh

fuging Christ man saying burns is not good against the run isnt talking negative its talking realistic and honest.    You guys are wearing some big blue blinders.   Pff has him at 64 for a reason and that reason is his liability in the run game.   In the biggest game of his career against Tampa he totally poo the bed because they ran straight at him.

Lay out why you think he is a top tier edge/olb other than he one of our top players. You dont have a leg to stand on when comparing him with the actual top guys at the position.

Buirns overall grade by PFF l;ast season was 64.5 , good for 65th place out of 119 players. If you want to hype one of our Defensive players, do Derrick Brown who is developing into a monster.

MYles was a 92.5 grade and Watt was 82.1 for comparison.

Burns is a good player as it currently stands, not great. He is great when compared to other edge players on our roster, not with the top guys in the league.

It wouldnt surprise me to see him lose some snaps if he cant step up in the run game. This coaching staff is not going to watch him get bullied over and over. We will find someone to put out there who can play the run and he will become a pass rush specialist.

You do realize that the way teams tend to play the best Dlineman? Run at him. Dang, I would  have thought you of all ppl would know that.

Burns has never had a running mate. Yet he is still one of the best Edges in the game. That seems like an accomplishment to me.

But I'm a blue goggles wearing Panther fan. So, I don't know nothing.

So you pick the strongest link on the DL and run right at him? wow dude really....

Our best DL last season was Brown and it wasnt close.

I'm too excited for the season to put up with this negativity. You guys can dis on Burns to your hearts content.

Peace out.

Exactly, you have nothing other than he is one of the Panthers best players. He was the 7th highest graded player by PFF on our D last season.

Its not negative to point out a players strengths and weaknesses. The good news is we have an actual NFL coaching staff who should put our players in the best spots to succeed.

Burns had a running mate who outshined him the whole season. Reddick sacks that season where accomplished through grit and grind. A lot of Burns sacks that year was coming off the line untouched. A sack is a sack but to have 9 sacks and 3-4 come from assignment break downs isn't top-tier production.

You can tell who watches other football games and who only watches Panther games.

You would think Burns was taking over games when in reality he has never done that.

Nah this is a young top 10 pass rusher. The most important position on defense. This is like the QB position on defense. You don't play around with that position. If he is one of the better DE's in the league lock him up and don't think twice about it.

I just don’t see him as a top 10 DE.  Yannick is also considered a top pass rusher, and he’s still a FA because he can’t stop the run.  Burns is taken out of plays so easily, at least thus far in his career.  Even our new coaching staff has said over and over that you have to earn the right to rush the passer, and that you can only do that by setting the edge and stopping the run.  2022 Burns couldn’t do either very well.  I hope he develops into a true 3 down player who is effective in all aspects of the game.  If he does, pay him whatever he wants
