What kind of question is that. Hopkins is not a cancer. Hell yes we need that kind of WR.

 

Ask Cam Newton who was his WR his best passing season. That vet Smitty was the best thing Cam ever had and that was his rookie year.

 

 

But having the addition of him also is going to slow down Mingo and TMJ's development. Yes he helps but counting on the younger players to develop much slower as he will be taking away learning time from them. Hopkins is good but he is definitely no Smitty

It doesn't slow down Mingo if anything it helps him especially since Hopkins would be receiving the double coverage.

 

Ask Thielen what is was like playing with a true #1 WR. It makes the #2 WR job so much easier.

I don't think we would pay him enough to come here. Other than that, he'd have no reason to come here. He could even not take the super payday from us, make just a bit less, and be on a better team. It's a no brainer really. I think he'll be an Eagle.

Hopkins and Mingo both X.  They won’t be on the field the same time most plays.

This is kind of a moot point. Hopkins isn't even a realistic option for us right now. I only brought him up as an overpay option. That's the only way he comes here.

Honestly, if we could sign Hopkins and then trade Chark, that would be the ideal scenario to me, as Chark is really the reason there isn't a clear open spot for Hopkins right now.

Thielen is the slot and TMJ/Mingo should be on the field at one outside spot and then when we go 4 wide, we have to see them get significant playing time unless they're just terrible.

Signing Hopkins would stunt one or both of their growth potential unless Chark gets relegated to minimal snaps.

^^^^ More like 20 million in cap space as Bryce hasn't signed yet, he'll count $7.5 million against the cap in year 1

Either way, I fully expect him to end up on a 1 year deal with a contender like KC or Buffalo.  Chase a ring, try to put together a full season of staying healthy and then get a better multi-year deal going into next year when he can go into the start of FA.

I wonder if we have enough to pay him? He definitely will not come cheap unless he cuts us a home town discount

AZ, which doesn’t have much talent, was willing to let him walk for nothing. If it was 5 years ago, I may be willing to overpay to land him. I’m not sure what he has shown the last few years is worth doing that now.

You do realize that the Cardinals cutting him is likely an endorsement of the skill he still has left than anything, right?

The Cardinals aren't trying to win this year, if they were, they'd have signed a better QB to play until Kyler is ready.

Cutting him is their way of saying he still has it and would have been good enough to help them win at least a few extra games this year, which they don't want to do.  Their goal is to end up with the #1 pick so they can either trade Kyler (if possible with his contract) or trade the #1 pick for the biggest return in the history of traded draft picks as Caleb Williams would get that kind of offer.
