Wow, why are we getting bent out of shape about a rumor about a guy who would rather play in Ottawa than Carolina because of $$.

I rather make some good scratch and be on a winning team.

I fully agree.

So, let's look at the Buffalo Sabres roster and see how Pesce's name is being linked to trade rumors. Not hard to figure the first name that pops up:

Yeah, I'd take Victor Olofsson. In his 4 full seasons with the Sabres, he's put up 42, 32, 49 and 40 points. Don't know is this is the rumor, but Pesce is considered a top 15 defender in the league and Olofsson is a UFA after this coming season. A little strange given the Sabres have enough cap space to extend him now, but nothing has happened?

No. No trading Pesce. If you are going to do it. Do it at the deadline.

I’d want Peterka, he’s a young roster player with a good amount of potential. If we’re trading Pesce then I want someone coming back with term because I assume that if dealt, Pesce will be going to a team that he’ll extend with. An extended Pesce is worth a player with term.

LMAO. That contract could be brutal in just two years time. Guys that play like Wilson just don’t last until they are 37.

feels like the Dwill/CJ contracts for Hurney where we outbid ourselves. Wilson's contract was 5.2 AAV---who were they bidding against to give him that kind of raise at that term? absolutely nuts.

I'd take Tuch from the Sabres too.

Tuch would be my preference, not sure they’d trade him though.

Tuch is under contract for another 3 years with a NTC. Wasn't he wearing an "A" last season?

The reason I brought up Olofsson is because he hasn't been extended and Buffalo obviously has the money to do it. So, without a NTC, Buffalo's need for a top 4 blue-liner to likely replace a 35-year old Erik Johnson, and Buffalo needs to send a couple guys down as they're over the roster limit. The Sabres have 24 guys on the roster and still have over $6M in cap space.

No doubt in my mind the Canes would extend Olofsson.

    • Everyone wants to know what happened to Hunter Renfrow. He went from the Pro Bowl in 2021 to an afterthought in 2022 and 2023 to out of the league in 2024.  Renfrow ow is attempting a comeback with the Panthers. “It’s just trying to get back, trying to get healthy, trying to do something I love,” Renfrow told Darin Gantt of the team website when asked about a year out of the game. “I enjoyed other parts of life. We had our second daughter, so enjoying that and just wanting to make sure if I’m going to come back and give my time and attention to something that I was going to be all in on it.” Renfrow, 29, revealed that he has dealt with a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis, which left him with weight loss, fatigue and high fever. It’s a reason he did not play last season. Instead, Renfrow spent a year consulting with doctors and getting the condition under control. “It kicked my butt pretty good,” Renfrow said. “Last year, I fluctuated in weight. I went down to 150 pounds. I had like seven straight days of 103-degree fevers. It’s tough to play when you’re not feeling great.” He now weighs 187 with a goal of a playing weight of 185. “It’s a weird feeling. It makes you grateful for the times that you do feel good,” Renfrow said. “It makes you grateful for the opportunities that you’ve had, and when you feel like you’ve been blessed with some skill to go out there and perform, it makes you not want to waste the opportunity that you have. And that was one of the reasons why I wanted to come back and play.” In five seasons, Renfrow has 269 receptions for 2,884 yards and 17 touchdowns. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/hunter-renfrow-a-health-challenge-led-to-time-away-from-football
    • I am feeling optimistic for sure. But at this point in time in Panthers fandom talk is cheap and seeing is believing.
