Corral deserves a fair shot

Why is it that when some on here hope that Corral has success in this league that we are consider Corral lovers?

Lets be real here for a minute:

I was one of the few supporters of Corral on this forum but mainly because a bunch of you believe he is a bust after, what? Two preseason games? It really isn't enough to actually label him a bust and in fact, I am fairly certain that Fitterer even said he was a project QB.

That said, I will support which ever QB has the most success with this team and if anything, I hope Corral develops into a decent back-up for the future behind Young because I do not foresee Dalton being the long term solution to our back-up QB position.

We will see though. I just hope they do give Corral some time with the 2nd string at least during pre-season.

I am with you on this

Rhule and his clown show put the kid behind the eight ball from the get go. Yes he is a third round pick and in the few snaps he did get looked lost.

The staff needs to see what he can do and actually give him a fair shot. If he shats the bed, so be it.

Give him reps and a full camp and see what happens. Dalton doesn't need much to hit the ground running. Need to do the right thing and see what they can do with the kid.

Right now I think he is getting a shot at staying in the NFL.

On the team's end, there are a ton of scenarios that are literally a play away. Think two or three years down the line, you aren't thinking Dalton. You want to thoroughly evaluate every option. They should be, or have a good reason why.

New people get benefit of the doubt until they don't, I am gonna believe they are having their conversations.

Meh. He’ll get his “fair” shot, and if by some miracle he actually significantly outperforms Bryce?  He’ll get more opportunities. If it looks even remotely close, obviously it’s going to go to the guy they think had a brighter future, the guy they gave up some picks and a starting WR for.

I hope he does enough in training camp and preseason to gain interest from other teams for a trade. Give him a fair shot with someone else, we don't need 3 on our roster

With the new rules you’re just shooting your self in the foot for no reason if you dont carry a third. No reason not to

I think most teams will now that you are allotted an extra game day roster spot for a third QB. Honestly, there's no good reason not to.

That was a proposed rule change that didn't pass the owner vote this offseason.

Maybe they'll try it again next year or in the future, but there isn't going to be a bonus game day spot for a 3rd QB this year.

adding as many bodies as you can to help with the transition to the 3-4 defense and to keep more olinemen that we think we should hold onto in order to better protect Bryce in the future are 2 really good reasons to start.

Such a ridiculous and childish response with absolutely zero basis other than "He said something and it hurt me wittle feelings so I go poo poo in my diaper!"

It hurts absolutely nothing to keep him around in order to see what he has and if he develops into something backup material or if he develops into starter material and potential trade bait. It is so telling and pathetic that you would call him a "groupie", let alone flip him off for having an opinion that is both rational and makes sense for the betterment of the team. You are a shining example of why a tubby basement dwelling buffoon with chubby greasy troll fingers should not be allowed to peck away at his mommy's computer while she is upstairs fixing his Kid Cuisine microwave dinner.

So please tell me, what is so funny with keeping the guy around to see if he can develop into trade bait or a decent backup? I mean, if you can post gifs constantly then post me a few reasons why trying to develop him for future assets or just as a reliable backup is so funny? You must have reasons other than Gifs since you are so passionately a "No" on this.

    • What I really learned here is that the Carolina Panthers aren't anywhere near as bad as I initially thought they were earlier this year.  We've got a young and growing offense with some promising parts. But it still needs some tweaks and improvements.  We really still could still use a dominant #1 WR. But Chubba,  Legette, Coker,  and J.Sanders have generally looked decent. Bryce took a big leap after the benching. We can score enough points to keep pace with 2x defending super bowl champions, so offense isn't a huge issue. Main thing that needs improvement is defense. We sorely need a CB 2, and a number of new players at Dline and LB.  We're not quite as bad at edge with Wonnum showing promise.  But we definitely need 1 or 2 more edges Clowney is old.  Run D is probably worse prevailing theme these past couple years. We really need a good young stud or two to pair with Derrick Brown and another LB to pair up with Trevin Wallace. If Morgan and Canales can focus on rebuilding the defense this off-season and possibly going out and getting a #1 WR. This team could easily be somewhere around 7-10 to 10-7 and flirting with playoffs in 1 or 2 seasons. Overall this game has made me feel alot more positive about the direction of the team.
    • With our picks we need pass rush, lb, Safety, a speedster yac wr, o line depth and I still want a mid round qb. We got 9 picks and 8 in the first 5 rounds. If they pull Off another solid draft we be cooking.
    • We had one passing touchdown against the Giants and one passing touchdown against the Chiefs today. Yes a good backup can replicate that. And that is why Andy Dalton in significantly less games has the same number of 30 point outings as Bryce Young. I am on board with you guys about wanting to be hopeful for the future. Today was a good performance to build on especially at home. But let's please keep things in perspective. BTW the Bucs who honestly aren't even that good blew the doors off the Giants today after we went to overtime against them with 17 points. Again. Perspective.
