We just finished with 7 wins how would it be a 40% increase? And that was 7 wins with a historically bad coach, an interim coach, and the worst QB play in the league from 3 different starting QBs.

I mistakenly thought they only had 5 wins again last year but still stand behind the rest of my point. Plenty of scenarios where 7-10 this year is not an automatic fail given all the upheaval; way too many moving parts for such a blanket assertion, especially mere days into OTAs.

7 wins is not an improvement over last year. If we only get 7 wins this year, that would be more than a disappointment. That would be a sign that we hired the wrong guy and we probably should have stayed with Wilks because even he would have done better than that last year had he started the season earlier.

Wilks, given a whole season, given this season, would have won between 7-9 games.

Reich and this staff..this team was put together because the expectation is at the very least 9. The expectation is playoffs and winning the division THIS year.

And it's very reasonable and reachable.

What's miserable about acknowledging a probable reality? My expectations are pretty low largely because a complete overhaul rarely yields major results in year 1. Years 2 and 3 yeah, I fully expect the team to be much improved, but this year... nah. Let's see some upward trend throughout the season and actual competent NFL strategy and I'll be set. Hardly a miserable state of mind and, if anything, makes it much easier to be impressed/delighted.

Y'all are the ones setting yourselves up for some potential misery.

Thank you

Everyone’s expectations should be a division title after sh1tting the bed vs. Tampa last season.

Why the fug are some  expecting a regression? New Coach and QB that seems to be well worth the price paid. Free agency signings filled/upgraded skill positions… God damn man we’ve been reading how many Rhule/Darnold sucks threads for 2 years now? Now they’re gone and we suck worse?

We're not playing last year's rosters or even last years schedule.

The division rivals did not stand still.

We've made very little investment on the D side of the ball, and our D wasn't all that great last year.  Add to that  a new DC and changing base formation.

Young was a great college QB, but he is still a rookie.

Our OC has never been OC.

Reich's O last year was horrible, and he' going to calling plays.

The schedule is front loaded we already have injuries on our starting OL.

Its possible we skip the part where we take time to gel and that all the ingredients just work together like fine stew, but I would guess we start slow as we lead off with two division games.

Y'all are hilarious. The complaint posts when an upward-trending 6-8 win season doesn't meet "the expectation" that, for a laundry list of reasons, was pretty unreasonable in the first place will be amusing.

Terrible take, they were on rebuilding teams with little talent around them. Panthers picked #1 because they traded up. They would have been a playoff team last year with a decent QB play and Bryce Young is as NFL ready as any QB in history

Take a look at the list of rookie QBs with the most wins. Note how few had 9 or more, and then further drill that down that by how many also had new staffs to contend with, THEN also consider play style.

Spoiler: there are almost no rookies in the 2000s that achieved 9 wins or more as a starter with new coaches as well. It's certainly possible that this team is an outlier but man are some of your opinions and expectations so very unrealistic.

Teams that are successful with their new coach see dramatic results almost immediately. If you don't see it early, you probably won't.

And success includes more than just wins/losses, particularly with a rookie QB and as much change as Carolina is facing. Year 2 is where wins/loss jump should become a primary metric for a total shift like this.

There's no point in continuing to go with you and others in a circle. The reality is that thinking anything less than the playoffs for this year's largely-overhauled, top-to-bottom melting pot of team is objective failure just is not a fair and reasonable position to hold.

The reality is, we are in a soft division and we have a soft schedule. Tbh, I think that ATL and the saints have improved over the off-season, but none of them have had the upgrades that we have. I think coaching alone accounts for at least 2 more wins than last season. Having an OL that is now set and entrenched and has significant time together building chemistry is a huge upgrade over last year. And then there's Young...whom i believe will be, sooner rather than later, the best QB in the division and easily the top half of the NFC quickly.

If we were in any other division, had a tougher schedule, or were in the AFC, then I'd be buying your arguments a bit easier.

But that's not our reality. Our reality is we have the best one of the best coaching staffs in the NFC, a still very weak division, and an easy schedule full of weak or new QBs and bad teams.

So yeah ... If we can't capitalize on all of this in '23 and can't get a winning record, we're looking at a long road ahead. I just don't see that happening.

You know it is perfectly acceptable for ppl not to agree with you.

Also, why does it seem to bother you that there are fans that have real excitement, and true hope for this years team?

One of the best Coaching Staffs in the league, upgraded Offensive weapons, up and coming DC with Dom Capers. AND the best QB in the draft. Seems like enough for fans to get excited over. Especially in our Division.
