Panthers over/under win totals

Rookie season

Cam 6 wins

Payton  3 wins

Trevor Lawrence 3 wins

I think Bryce Young has  better team around him than any of those three. I think he has better coaching than those 3's rookie seasons. I think the division is weaker than those 3's when a rookie.

Panthers,  win 10

This coaching staff could have gotten a few more wins out of last year's team.  I am doing the ultimate positive homer thing and saying I expect at least 10 wins.

10 wins would be great. However, I will settle for  the Panthers having a 9-8 record this year and winning the NFC South.

I can’t see us winning less than 10 games. We have the best coaching staff a rookie QB has ever been surrounded with, a solid offensive supporting cast, a better line than any first overall pick QB has lined up behind….

And Bryce day 1 should be a significant improvement over the QB play we had the past few years.

We upgraded significantly at QB and coaching over last year and our team won 7 games. These changes should result in at least 3 additional wins.

Anything less would make me question the staff.

Floor: 4-13

Ceiling: 11-6

This season is going to be about growing and transitioning.

No way is the floor this low.  8 wins minimum

And all three picked #1 because of their worst record year before.  That’s not the Panthers

I still think 9-8 would be a good result with a rookie QB.  Next year is where expectations ramp up.

Welll...... not "ultimate".

Stand by for start of season thread asking for record predictions and my annual 'undefeated' call.  There was this one year where I was only off by a single game!

Every year people get on here with their excitement and start talking about how we are X wins minimum this, and that. Then reality sets in and they are the most toxic ones on the board. Reality being injuries and other intangibles people over look.

- New Coaching Staff

-Rookie QB

- No CMC/DJ Moore

-Entirely new scheme

We are probably a 7-9 win team. Injuries could take us 4-13 but I don’t see us winning more than 10-11 if everything goes right.

Cam had Stewart, DeAngelo, Olsen, Smitty, Kalil, Gross, Hardy, Johnson.

There was a lot of talent on that team, some of the greatest Panthers of all time.

Yeah, all those teams were awful, a majority of them rank in the top 10 of worst teams ever… not to mention the list includes guys drafted decades ago. The Jets (Namath) were not even a NFL team and the Patriots (Plunkett) were named The Boston Patriots.

And the Panthers are not awful and have downgraded from CMC and Moore?

5 of those teams went on to win the SB and 6 of them went to the SB. All those teams were awful?

34 SB winning QBs, 35 SB winning HCs, and 29 QBs drafted #1 overall. Go ahead and find the non-playoff teams drafting a QB #1 overall that won enough games in their rookie season to make the playoffs. How about the teams that traded up to the #1 overall like the Panthers to get their QB. How did that work out in year 1?

Having people try to make an exception for the Panthers going from #9 to #1 as though that means they are better than the teams that finished last, or that there were no teams like the Panthers who traded up.

The insane take would be comparing the Panthers to the Steelers under Cowher, the Chiefs under Reid, or the Ravens under Harbaugh going after a 1st round QB for a team that is already a contender with SB All-pro leadership already on the team.

What is preposterous is saying Young has a high probability of getting to 9 wins or more. 2 to 4 wins is typical. For the amount the Panthers paid, he should have a winning season in year 1.

Peyton Manning 3 wins (failed with original coach)

John Elway 4 wins (failed with original coach)

Steve Young 1 win (failed with drafted team)

Troy Aikman 0 wins

Joe Namath 3 wins

Terry Bradshaw 3 wins

Jim Plunkett 6 wins (failed with drafted team)

Eli Manning 1 win

Matthew Stafford 2 wins (failed with drafted team)

All the SB winning QBs selected #1. Their rookie wins. Average is 2.6 wins.

It amazes me that people think a rookie QB will win 9 or more games. It’s silly to say the least. I predict 7 but would not be surprised if it’s only 2 or 3. A rookie Qb and new staff doesn’t add up to a division title and playoffs. The homers are just being that.

    • I don't get the Hunter hate. Just imagine his ceiling if he stopped trying to be this 2way freak and focused on one side of the ball
    • 100%.  You have to play the cards that are dealt.  Not the cards you wish were dealt.
    • I'd say its definitely going to be addressed this off-season.  We went into the last draft with a roster of RBs including:  Chubba, Blackshear, and Miles Sanders. We picked Jonathan Brooks in the second and still signed Rashaad Penny afterwards.  Fast forward....One turned into a top 10 back, 1 is injured/out for most if not all the '25 season, 1 retired, 1 will either take a huge paycut or be cut, and the last is a restricted free agent. We brought in Mike Boone as well. Add him to the free agent list also.  We need a physical option.    Which qualifies:  Ashton Jeanty(Boise St): Overall ranked Top 10. Almost 2k yards after contact, 28 tds. Would take our first rounder. My money would be on an NFC East team selecting him. (97.2 PFF run grade) - 121 forced missed tackles.  Omarion Hampton(UNC): Ranked everywhere from 20 - 59 overall. Consensus #2 back after Jeanty. He'll be a second rounder. 1,222 Yards after contact w/ 15 tds.  (90.5 PFF run grade) - 72 forced missed Tackles Kaleb Johnson(Iowa): Ranked from 38 - 69 depending on which media outlet you prefer but generally #3. 2nd/3rd possibly. 1,060 Yards after contact w/ 21 tds.(86.7 PFF run grade)- 66 forced missed tackles Cam Skattebo: Ranked from the 50's - 104. Every mock I do he ends up BPA at some point. 969 Yards after contact w/ 17 tds(92 PFF Run Grade). Probably the best receiving back of the group. 81 forced missed tackles.  If the '24 and '25 draft classes were combined, IMO the rankings would be, in order: Jeanty, Hampton, Brooks, Johnson, Skattebo. I wouldn't take one high but I'd take one for Chubba and Brooks insurance.
