The Anti-tankers…. Never forget!!!!

We did tank.  At the point we traded away CMC and chose a replacement HC  who had successfully tanked before,  the FO was trying to tank.  Wilkes as much said so, even though he qualified that statement later.

If we had chosen Tabor who wasn't suing the NFL for being undermined, I think we could have traded away more assets for more picks,  which would have given us more 1st round picks and and a higher draft spot, so we could have spent fewer picks to move up.

The coaches and players cannot/will not lose games on purpose.

We are where we are.  If Young translates, no one will care.

No one tried to tank like the Colts and they ended up with Anthony Richardson. I think they are counting on another really bad year.

Yeah this thread is going nowhere good.

The whole concept is stupid.

I mean what's the point of it? "Don't you dare root for the team to win because we might and we get a worse pick?" That's not exactly how that works.  I mean if we embrace the suck and, as a fambase, actually WANT to lose for the good of the franchise long term, do you actually think that will affect the outcome?

Or is it that you want the franchise to purposely tank? You want the coaching staff to encourage the players to throw games? You know that might be a bit stupid because there's kind of repercussions to that kind of thing.

Plus people would be losing jobs.

Sorry... The whole thing just stinks of narrow-mindedness.

Pretty much

While I don’t personally feel this way, I fully understand the rationale and logic of a fan wanting a bad to mediocre team to lose in hopes of improving draft position.

What I will never understand is the animosity towards the coaches or a team because they win a game.  Outside of illegal betting, collusion, or similar malfeasance, there is no incentive for a player or coach to purposefully lose. That said, the reason why grown ass adults get pissed at other grown ass adults simply because they try to do their job befuddles me.

I'm curious, how many wins did we have with and without CMC?  No running back is going to be the big difference between a winning season and a losing one

    • I don't get the Hunter hate. Just imagine his ceiling if he stopped trying to be this 2way freak and focused on one side of the ball
    • 100%.  You have to play the cards that are dealt.  Not the cards you wish were dealt.
    • I'd say its definitely going to be addressed this off-season.  We went into the last draft with a roster of RBs including:  Chubba, Blackshear, and Miles Sanders. We picked Jonathan Brooks in the second and still signed Rashaad Penny afterwards.  Fast forward....One turned into a top 10 back, 1 is injured/out for most if not all the '25 season, 1 retired, 1 will either take a huge paycut or be cut, and the last is a restricted free agent. We brought in Mike Boone as well. Add him to the free agent list also.  We need a physical option.    Which qualifies:  Ashton Jeanty(Boise St): Overall ranked Top 10. Almost 2k yards after contact, 28 tds. Would take our first rounder. My money would be on an NFC East team selecting him. (97.2 PFF run grade) - 121 forced missed tackles.  Omarion Hampton(UNC): Ranked everywhere from 20 - 59 overall. Consensus #2 back after Jeanty. He'll be a second rounder. 1,222 Yards after contact w/ 15 tds.  (90.5 PFF run grade) - 72 forced missed Tackles Kaleb Johnson(Iowa): Ranked from 38 - 69 depending on which media outlet you prefer but generally #3. 2nd/3rd possibly. 1,060 Yards after contact w/ 21 tds.(86.7 PFF run grade)- 66 forced missed tackles Cam Skattebo: Ranked from the 50's - 104. Every mock I do he ends up BPA at some point. 969 Yards after contact w/ 17 tds(92 PFF Run Grade). Probably the best receiving back of the group. 81 forced missed tackles.  If the '24 and '25 draft classes were combined, IMO the rankings would be, in order: Jeanty, Hampton, Brooks, Johnson, Skattebo. I wouldn't take one high but I'd take one for Chubba and Brooks insurance.
