Not to detract from the convo going on in here but I’ve been exposed to Bears twitter this week….man those are some of the most delusional fans ever. I know we have some delusional people in our fanbase but they be trippin over there lol.

I get that they have our pick next year and want us to do bad but the way some of their fans talk you’d think they didn’t earn the #1 pick and that we did lmao.

Until a QB pay scale gets worked out. Or the Cap goes up to account for those larger salaries. I'm afraid teams are going to have to find ways to cut costs. Last year the WRs got lesser contracts, and this year it's the RBs.

The Cap was supposed to help level out the field. All it has really done is muddy up the waters.

Putting a Cap on the QB pay scale would make it easier to even out the spoils. But I wouldn't hold my breath on it happening.

For the good of the players as a whole, a QB cap would be a great thing. Or just a max contract stipulation, period. But for competitiveness the current system is best. Want that MVP caliber QB? It's gonna cost you a big chunk of your cap. Put a cap on contracts and that handful of teams that has a legit MVP caliber QB on the roster is gonna have an even bigger competitive advantage than the huge one they already have.

QB pay scale just sounds too good to be true. No way the NFL does that to the QB position. They are the face of the franchise most of the time.

The cap is projected to skyrocket over the next few seasons with the new TV deal.

I don't think the QB salaries will be much of a concern for a bit.

The only Bears fan I know is 100% all in on them winning the North now, and getting a top 5 pick next year.

I agree with what you are saying and the QB pay scale would still be a decent portion of the cap to help level that. I also feel like at the end of the day you need that MVP caliber QB if you want to sustain success in this league. I mean we are all pencilling in the Chiefs, Bengals, Bills, and Eagles in the playoffs before the season starts because of their QB. We traded away a good haul for a chance at drafting a franchise QB. The name of the game is developing or finding a QB. I’m not sure putting a max cap hit on QBs changes that.

Last year WRs got lesser salaries? Hill signed a huge deal. AJ Brown got a huge deal. Deebo Samuel got a huge deal. Adams signed a big extension. Kupp signed a big extension. Diggs signed a huge extension. Metcalf signed a big extension. McLaurin signed a big extension. Even our own (at the time) DJ Moore signed a big extension.

That’s 9 for 9 in the top WR salaries that signed extensions in the 2022 off-season. That’s the exact opposite of what you said. WRs got paid last year, nothing close to what’s happening to RBs this year.

Giants are basically repeating what Tennessee did a few years back.

Overpay the average QB aka Tannehill/Jones and underpay the actual player that makes the offense aka Henry/Barkley.

Why not just give the RB some of the money that you overpaid for the average QB?

I swear some GM's just don't think. Nobody was going to overpay Daniel Jones and they overpaid him anyway.smh
