ESPN's Dianna Russini reports "all signs point to" the Vikings parting ways with Dalvin Cook.

Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah was noncommittal on Cook's future with the team a few weeks before the draft. There have been trade and cut rumors surrounding Cook throughout the offseason. If the Vikings were going to trade him, there is a good chance it would have happened prior to the draft. Now they may simply choose to cut him. If the release happens after June 1st, Minnesota will save $9 million against the cap with an $8.2 million dead cap hit spread out over the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The team brought Alexander Mattison back in free agency and drafted UAB running back DeWayne McBride in the seventh round. Mattison would get the first crack at the starting gig and would immediately vault into high-end RB2 territory if Cook is released.

Yikes 😬

Mind you, I'd be pretty shocked if this happened, but at the same time it's obvious we've come a long way from people projecting him #1 overall last year.

That should be us with Corral. We could use the extra roster spot.

0% chance of this happening, same with us and Corral, in the end, someone would give up at minimum a late round pick to get them before they get cut and can sign with anyone.

Neither may be on their current teams come Week 1, but neither will be cut

Wouldn't shock me a bit if Corral is released. It was rumored leading up to the draft that we were trying to trade him for literally anything.

So dont even see what he has in the preseason and just cut him? What if he has something in him that propels him into a quality QB? No time to see if or if not last year due to preseason injury

Don't remember. Feels like there were a couple who believed in taking him because of his tools and then teaching him how to be a pro quarterback.

I just can't sign on to that approach at all.

I think he was a legit third round gamble. But doesn’t seem like he impressed in his first year.

Third round? Sure. So was Corral.

But last year, there were fans and analysts alike speculating about him going #1.

I think I was on board taking him in the 1st. Desperation for a quarterback will do that to people. I did at least want to trade back and take him. Just didn't want Pickett

NFL legend Tom Brady is in deep discussions to become a limited partner of the Las Vegas Raiders, sources told ESPN -- potentially his second foray into a partnership with Raiders owner Mark Davis on a professional sports franchise in less than two months.

Discussions between the two sides have been going on for weeks and could soon be reaching a resolution, yet sources say it's still an extremely sensitive and fluid negotiation. Brady's investment is expected to be "passive," a source with direct knowledge of the situation says, and he would not have any operational control or authority over the club in business or football matters.

It's believed that Brady's 10-year, $375 million contract with Fox, which is due to start in 2024, would be unaffected by an investment in the Raiders. A source told ESPN that Fox has "blessed" the arrangement. Sources said that league policy about team ownership overlapping with media employment comes into play only if the owner holds a position of authority at the media company and could impact broadcast rights negotiations. Fox and the NFL agreed to an 11-year rights deal in 2021.

This is not the first time the seven-time Super Bowl champion has shown interest in owning a minority stake in an NFL franchise. In 2021 and 2022, Brady reportedly had discussions with the Miami Dolphins about becoming a limited partner.

    • He can say what he feels, but he's not saying "the previous year, the team wasn't very good" he directly called his teammates out and in a way that is flat-out not true. "You are your record"? Oh ok, he's only had 3 winning seasons, but in my mind he isn't a loser, and I bet he isn't in his either - cause football is a team sport and wins and losses are on the team, even when one really bad player (Jimminy Pickles) can basically screw over everything.  And this comes on the heels of his thing about the MVP, which is fine, but also selfish. His teammates consistently went to bat for him... Just feels like he's more about himself.
    • Good point--I think this draft is great for us at this time--At the top of the draft, the DT (DEs/NTs in 3-4) are loaded.  The Edges are deep.  We need to double dip there--hoping to move back so we can add three players to that pool.  In free agency, if I were Morgan, I would focus on DBs and  ILB--fix the back end of the defense.  If he signed a S, CB, ILB, and TE, it would be cost effective.  In the draft, DE, Edge, and WR should be the priorities.  After that, OL Depth, QB depth, DB depth, RB depth.  My Free agent Targets:  TE: Juwan Johnson, Saints.  29, had over 500 yards with Saints. S: Julian Blackmon, Colts.  He will be one of the top free agents--gonna cost us, but not like an edge or WR. ILB: Tyrel Dodson, Dolphins.  80 tackles on just 854 snaps--under 27 years of age. CB: Mike Jackson, Carolina.  He is 28 and had 3 picks and was on the field at all times.  68 PFF score. NT:  best available for Evero's system.
