Mingo and Marshall likely fight it out for that 3rd spot in camp.

 

Chark is the number 1 at this point. Thielen isnt who he use to be. doesnt have the speed to seperate at this this stage in his career. will be playing second fiddle to Chark like he did with jefferson.

The list of Wr's that were available at 80 or wherever we picked, not good. I think since we have Burns it'll be easier to have a committee approach at OLB vs hoping AT Perry or Boutte could be a starting receiver. Also you can't draft 2 sub 6' players back to back so Mingo was the right pick at the position.

There are a lot of factors like can Chark stay healthy? Will TMJ take the next leap in development? ETC, but it’s really not a terribly group of WRs at all. We also have Shenault for quick passes followed by YAC. Shenault and Mingo can make life difficult for a secondary trying to tackle them. Chark is a deep threat and Thielen is the sure handed possession WR. Add Sanders and Hurst and Young has a decent group around him.

Mingo I think is going to be a WR you need to throw A+ passes to because the separation is going to be minimal and the catch radius isn't anything that's going to bother DBs. If Young can be really accurate with Mingo then we can do a lot of damage because Mingo likes to run slants. Mingo has really great hands, but it's scary because that DB is going to be right there with him. The accuracy need to be on point. 

With TMJ you have that good catch radius so if you put it up high it's a safer pass. It's hard to know what TMJ can do because he's never played with a good pro QB.

Chark needs to be the man. He's got to take over and be a dominant WR. Now is the time.

It looks like we're just going to spread the ball around and rely on the defense to keep it close. I hate that and I'm so sick of it season after season, but there is reality. We're not KC, and we're not on our way to that. Young will manage the game, and the defense will keep it close, and with other bad teams will bully them with the run game and stomp them.

I don't think we really have that this year, not with how this roster is built at WR right now.

We have Chark and TMJ as the top two outside WRs while Thielen and Mingo will be the Slot WRs.

Chark and TMJ will be one the field for the majority of plays unless they need a breather, as they're really our only true outside WRs on the roster right now.  Thielen will be on the field for most of the snaps as a slot while Mingo will be in the other slot when we go 4 wide (which I expect a lot of this year, especially since Thielen and Mingo seem to be willing and good blocking WRs).

Mingo will then also likely take snaps as an outside WR when Chark or TMJ need a breather as well.

Shenault will be the 5th guy while Shi and Byrd battle it out for the final WR spot on the 53 man.

We won't have a traditional #1, #2, #3, etc as none of these WRs are "that guy" at the moment, they're all kinda complimentary pieces.  The read progressions will likely change each week based on the defense we're playing and where we matchup best, whether it be from the slot or outside.

That's the double edged sword of the way they built this WR room, we have a bunch of nice parts, the problem is without a true #1 to take the attention of the defense, I'm a bit concerned about how they'll perform.  It's why we needed to trade for someone like Hopkins instead of signing Chark, but we're past that now as unless we trade TMJ as part of a deal for a #1 WR, that room is filled at this point outside of camp fodder, not moving any of those top 4 to being the 5th WR.

With Mingo’s hands he’s basically catching a youth ball. Wow. 
 

I like our draft top to bottom. Even Johnson, who, after I watched a few Oregon all snap defense videos…I get it. 
 

A lot of people will say we don’t have a #1 WR or that we need one, but I don’t think that’s the case. 
 

If Bryce has the vision and goes through his reads as billed…then having a bunch of solid options beats having a star you have to feed the ball to.

Mingo’s high school played my high school football team the past two years for the Mississippi south state championship. They beat us both times. Brandon has always produced great football talent. 
 

Im rooting for him. This is definitely my favorite pick of the draft, outside of BY. I think he’s going to be a great receiver, and one of the top WR in the league within the next 2/3 years.

He better pan out. We can’t afford another let down at this position in 2nd and 3rd round. I thought TMJ was going to be beast

I don’t think it’s fair to write off TMJ yet. I was hoping for more at this point but he did have some flashes last year and was spent his first year under….that coaching staff who seemed determined to play him as little as possible. Much less bullish on him now but I think he can still be a piece and contribute

      I'd say its definitely going to be addressed this off-season.  We went into the last draft with a roster of RBs including:  Chubba, Blackshear, and Miles Sanders. We picked Jonathan Brooks in the second and still signed Rashaad Penny afterwards.  Fast forward....One turned into a top 10 back, 1 is injured/out for most if not all the '25 season, 1 retired, 1 will either take a huge paycut or be cut, and the last is a restricted free agent. We brought in Mike Boone as well. Add him to the free agent list also.  We need a physical option.    Which qualifies:  Ashton Jeanty(Boise St): Overall ranked Top 10. Almost 2k yards after contact, 28 tds. Would take our first rounder. My money would be on an NFC East team selecting him. (97.2 PFF run grade) - 121 forced missed tackles.  Omarion Hampton(UNC): Ranked everywhere from 20 - 59 overall. Consensus #2 back after Jeanty. He'll be a second rounder. 1,222 Yards after contact w/ 15 tds.  (90.5 PFF run grade) - 72 forced missed Tackles Kaleb Johnson(Iowa): Ranked from 38 - 69 depending on which media outlet you prefer but generally #3. 2nd/3rd possibly. 1,060 Yards after contact w/ 21 tds.(86.7 PFF run grade)- 66 forced missed tackles Cam Skattebo: Ranked from the 50's - 104. Every mock I do he ends up BPA at some point. 969 Yards after contact w/ 17 tds(92 PFF Run Grade). Probably the best receiving back of the group. 81 forced missed tackles.  If the '24 and '25 draft classes were combined, IMO the rankings would be, in order: Jeanty, Hampton, Brooks, Johnson, Skattebo. I wouldn't take one high but I'd take one for Chubba and Brooks insurance.
