E.Brown evaluation....

You also have to consider that the Panthers have lost DT's left and right this year and have been forced to change their D-line rotation damn near every week. That has an impact on the whole defense, so who knows what the numbers would be for all of these Panthers DE's if they had more continuity on the D-line?

The bottom line, is that they have adjusted about as well as anybody could have expected, and Brown is holding up his end of the bargain pretty darn well for a rookie.

nfldraftscout.com had him rated number 19. For those not aware of what that site does, it works a bit like a 'metacritic.com' and averages out as many sources as they can. So that would have been a general indicator on where scouts placed him based on talent. He was rated behind Orakpo and Jackson only as DEs.

The reason he fell was because he was under-sized and because he no experience of coverage at all. Despite being a 'Tweener' he was also seen as being strong at the point of attack, so the main reason he fell was the mass movement to the 3-4 and the lack of need for a pass rushing 4-3 end.

He was compared to Abraham and Ware. The Ware comparison was less so because he did not have as fluid hips, which would hinder him in coverage.

This is the same as when Crabtree was holding out wanting more money quoting about "Draft Projections" that makes no sense. Front offices in about 30 other cites saw something in brown that gave them pause in drafting him until we traded up in the 2nd to get him. Whatever made them pause would have been there this year and he would have been in a more talented (all positions) draft class. I think he at least makes it into this years 2nd unless he has a beastly year.

As was said now that he is on my team I judge him as a player. So where he was drafted does not matter. But I judge Hurney (or Fox) based on how they perform in there trades. And yes unless he turns out to be a good RE Hurney (or Fox) have failed. Just like if they drafted a 2nd round RB (Shelton) that barely has a football pulse thats a failure on there part and his. Or how bout a certain Colbert who IMO was a decent football player who was not a failure IMO but the 2nd rounder that Hurney used on him was a failure on his part. I don't hate the player I hate the management.

Ohhh, a pebble. That...was...beautiful, cept for the fact that even you know Brown has had an impact on the field.

Just come out and say "cause he failed to start his rookie season, and the cost of moving up to get him, I think the front office has failed" At least then you wouldn't be talking out of your ass, and you'd be offering an opinion which at least logical ~ even if it is short sited.

up to this point his performance has not been worth what they gave up

this disparity will increase even more in april

at some point he might, but I doubt it.

That is your doubt, and your opinion on the matter, but you are shooting into the wind judging a rookie at that position.

Think as you may, but if you knew better, you should have had your ass up there as GM.....just saying.

Like we have played "light's out" even with Pep this year! Give me a break!

The guy is good, he may not be a God.....but he has had an impact, and this is only his first year, and he came out early.

Reality.....check into a room every now and then....it's very helpful.......I promise.

Thats like saying the best leaders become Presidents. Or the best Executives become CEO. Its not always the case I guarantee you I could do better then Al Davis as a GM.

Apples and oranges, but carry on with your train of thought.

How is it apples and oranges? Maybe presidents I can understand as over a population were idiots and elect likewise (from top to bottom not just Pres). But in a corporation I have seen countless times more fit and able people get passed over for promotions. Whether it isn't your HR is worth a damn, maybe its someone owes someone a favor, or maybe they are just not as likeable who knows. The point is just because someone is not a scout/gm/coach/owner doesn't mean he doesn't know the game better then one.

Please.....try a paragraph every now and then.

John Fox has passed over more players that deserved the position than I can name at the moment......so PLEASEEEEEEEEEEE!

Secondly, you just proved the very point we are sick of here in Panther Nation.......and people that act like they know more than the organization, but aren't a part of it.

Show me proof, and you won't hear a single gurgle out of me, but until then, how do you defend what you don't know, against what you think you know?

I don't know either. All I can do is speculate, like 99% of most folks on here do......but what I do know is the game of football, and electronics.

You can be a better GM than Al Davis is real credible....

If you can, then how can you criticize me for what I am saying?

Jock strap much lately???????????????

Your making my point. Just because hes the HC/GM doesn't mean he or his choices are perfect and should just be accept because they are Professional Coaches.

That was a joke. Anyone with a pulse would be a better GM. But Al Davis has how many years of Football exp and sucks bad enough that you can say that.

Ummm not sure why this was directed at me, I was just posting what the negatives were on him.

The reason he dropped was because people genuinely doubted he could play at 3-4 OLB, leaving just the cover 2 4-3 teams that could draft him. Amazingly small amount of teams now employ this and most had more pressing needs than DE. There were a ton of teams that converted to a 3-4 this off season and all of them doubted he could make the transition to OLB. so quite likely that he makes it to the second, but that has nothing to do with his relative value at his position in the scheme he is designed for.

Where people are drafted is not a relation to where their talent was projected.

The Crabtree comment was nonsense. Crabtree fell because he was injured and no one got to see him do anything, nothing to do with schemes or people wondering if he could convert positions. He also was the best WR, just Al Davis picked the guy who 'could' become better.

The team that valued him most drafted him. Meeks loves his undersized speed DE. The same thing would have happened this year. And sorry it wasn't directed at you most where justifying using a top 15 picks because he was projected to go there last year.

Crabtree held out on his contract because hes agent was using his draft projections to demand more money.
