What I worry about with Young:

He admits he can’t really see much of the middle of the field. He relies on timing and knowing where guys are supposed to be. Who is our #1 WR this year? DJ Chark. What is the big knock on Chark? He doesn’t stay on the field. So if he and Young can’t link up with their timing because Chark tends to miss a lot of games and practices that hurts anything you want to do over the middle with him.

Who is our 2? Adam Theilen. He is about to be 33 years old and played a full season 1 time in the last four years. He misses games and practices. Again, think about the timing for Young and what this does to him.

What is the knock on Young? Not a great arm and his size. He’s very slim for the NFL. If he already doesn’t have a great arm and he gets dinged up during the year his arm is going to go from NFL acceptable to uh oh. And that will hurt his outside passing game if he lacks zip. And if you can’t throw outside, and can’t trust throws inside due to timing and not being able to see, its a recipe for disaster.

He has the talent to overcome this stuff but I would feel a lot better if we still had DJ as the 1 for him to throw to.

So would you rather be Young with Theilen, Chark, TMJ, Laviska and no first next year

or

Stroud with Robert Woods, Nico Collins, and John Metchie… and no first next year.

Hayden is going to have be his lifeline in the middle of the field. Need another te imo as well and a good slot WR that's reliable in the next few rounds.

Are we looking short term or long term? My preference would have been:

Stroud with Chark, Theilen, TMJ and Shenault over the two you posted.

Short term, this one season, it’s a toss up. Metchie has the talent to be the best of everyone listed above and Robert Woods is likely going to play the entire year at a consistent level. There’s less boom or bust from week to week with him like Theilen or Chark.

We have a better offensive line. We have a better defense who should give our offense more chances to score and run up stats and we have a better coaching staff.

I would feel better about the development of either guy if their teams went out and got them a true #1. We are missing it and so are they.

For sure. I think Hurst needs to have a career year here. He, like the others on our team hasn’t played a lot of full seasons. Missing games in all but 1-2 of his seasons and he has never had a massive statistical year. 5 years in and he made it to 500 yards once.

And I don’t want folks to think I am not happy about Bryce being here. I just think it’s fair to point out my personal concerns with him and the offensive roster we have around him.

Two things he's got going for him, Panthers have an article up that the offense was designed for Young as were the free agent targets.

The other is that the offensive line is pretty good when healthy.

Will be interesting to see the offense in week one.

I for sure believe we have a pretty good offensive line. I think the part about the WRs might be team speak. I would have to look back at when they were signed and when the dinner was that convinced the team Bryce was the guy. I think we signed them before the dinner when we still weren’t sure who our guy was. And it sounds better to the fans than acknowledging the loss of DJ Moore’s talents.

“We lost Moore but its ok guys we grabbed two guys in free agency who are specifically catered to the kid we are drafting.”
